Surgery tomorrow, 7/8/16

Recommended Posts

I went through lapband surgery in September 2011, and was successful with the lapband. When I got pregnant they removed all fluids in my band. In September 2015 I went to get a fill to learn that my port was inverted and my band is slipping. I made the decision to convert from a band to a sleeve, and will have surgery tomorrow. I'm nervous and excited, hoping for a speedy recovery.

My surgery went great! I was out if recovery 3 hours ago. Feeling fully coherent, dinner of broth and sugar free cranberry juice (which I thought was to sweet), and ice chips.

So far so fabulous, day one down!

Awesome your surgery went great but I'm wondering I thought you had to wait until the next day and drink some type of funny liquid before you sip on broth. Did you drink the Fluid in the same day that they let you eat dinner

They did my leak test while I was still under anesthesia.

They said Clear liquids yesterday. I have not recieved anything today yet.

Mine went well also!! I had it done in outpatient surgery so I came home last night. I had a few hour of intense gas pain, but other than that just a little abdominal soreness.

I'm on room temperature Water and broth only until 5 pm, when I can start full liquids as tolerated.

I'm already amazed that I am just not hungry. I'm super thirsty though, and taking smaller sips is a bit of a challenge!

Little sips are difficult for me too. If I drink too fast I get this crazy burp type of gas.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
