How many incisions did you end up with?

Recommended Posts

I have 6. Which is fine. I thought 5 was the usual.

They are healing well and do not hurt. This skin glue though is driving me batty!

I was a little out of it when my surgeon came by the day after. I remember him being suprised and telling me I had a "big" piece of stomach to remove. So maybe that has something to do with it?

Not a super serious concern. Just curious. I will ask at my post op follow up on the 5th.

:)

I have three scars from the incisions, one which is the about the size of a finger nail, the other the size of two, and the third is about half an inch, and then a drain scar. That's the one that is almost invisible now. I had surgery in August of 2015, and they've all faded considerably. Still, if I could do it over again I probably would have gotten the single incision since it was only $1000 more through my surgeon.

I have 6, but one is from having an umbilical hernia repair. I'm with you, the skin glue was lifting at the edges and bugging me, so i've picked most of it off. I still have 2 silver-impregnated bandages on the port where they pulled my stomach and the umbilicus. They itch. Like crazy!

I have 5. Kind of in the shape of a cross. One is high about 4 inches or so below where my ribs meet. Then another about 3 inches above my belly button. 3rd is IN my belly button and then one on each side. They are all very small. All are less than an inch wide.

I had 4 incisions only. That glue is so annoying! I had the nasty residue on my belly for 3 weeks and no amount of shower gel or baby oil would get rid of it. I used gauze and some hydrogen peroxide on one of the spots that had gotten wet the day earlier while I was doing the dishes and then tried to remove the residue beside that spot with the same cloth. It got rid of the residue! So I used more hydrogen peroxide on more clean gauze and I was able to get rid of all that residue in less than 5 minutes. I don't know whether it was the gauze or the peroxide that got rid of it but it was a relief.

English is my 6th language so forgive me if my sentences don't make any sense at times!

5, no drain. Using a suite of ScarAway products. Healing beautifully. One of the tiny ones is almost invisible already, and the rest are fading well.

I had 8! But no drain... Way more than I thought I would have... Wonder what the difference is?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
