Recommended Posts

@@startingmylife lol I know! Almost like I'm replacing my food obsession with weight loss obsession.

Good luck to you as well!

Small reality adjustment coming at you here for those who have recently been sleeved.

Below are my weight loss stats for the first four months post-op:

Month 1 -10.4 pounds

Month 2 -11.8 pounds

Month 3 -9.2 pounds

Month 4 -10.4 pounds

Then things slowed down. ;)

Yet here I am today -- 100 pounds lighter and maintaining at 135 pounds.

Guys, this isn't about how fast you can lose, but about learning how to change your life and your lifestyle in a way that will support your health and a healthy weight for the rest of your life. THAT should be your WLS goal.

Good luck to you all.

Thank you for the reality check! I was sleeved and given paperwork and that was it. I don't have a support group. Well thank goodness I have this app to vent on. Thanks Ann for the pep talk.

My signature has the stats for how much I lost each month post-op. My numbers are even lower than VSGAnn's and yet I still reached my goal and have been maintaining for 10 months! I don't know why everyone is in such a hurry to drop the weight. How fast you lose soooooo doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. Once you are at goal and maintaining, the rate of loss is completely irrelevant.

I am at my three month mark, lost 25 since surgery and am stalled. I cried when I talked to my doctor about it. She gave me a really good reality check. Not everyone who has had the surgery are on these forums reporting, so the stalling is probably an issue in most people. [Not that this forum is bad! I love it.] She also gave me some tough love and said, "it's only been three months. Come back when it's been a year an remember this conversation."

For many of us, a year to lose the weight seems like an eternity. But it's mere seconds in the life we have been in our bodies. Slow and steady wins the race!

I don't know what posts you are reading, but I would hazard a guess that a large majority are about stalls. Otherwise, your surgeon is absolutely right.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
