Feelings on the new aspire bariatrics device?

Recommended Posts

Apparently Aspire bariatrics has invented some new WLS "device" that allows users to suck food directly out of their stomachs after meals. What!? That doesn't teach better eating habits and cannot help with nutrition. I view it as most do, "assisted bulimia". What are everyone else's thoughts?

Well it isn't new, it has been around a long time. I guess they finally bribed enough people to get it approved.

It will be totally abused in the US, the same way they are abusing and misusing the ballon with people.

It is disgusting and doesn't teach proper eating habits.

I really feel sad when people are duped into such dangerous practices. :(

#5 I think this is a bad idea. This does not promote healthy eating or a lifestyle change. I think this will promote worse eating habits. People will think they can eat whatever they want and just pump it out

I thought "vomitrocious" when I heard about it. I don't think it will be a big hit with people, just too gross.

I think it will be wildly popular but personally, I would never consider it. To each their own, I guess.

I think it will be popular also. People will think they can eat whatever they want and as much as they want and just suck it out

I think it would probably be beneficial to a very small group of people with specific medical conditions.

But for the average fatty? It's complete folly.

Please remember weight loss is a multi billion dollar industry. Advertising could get very clever and sometimes..... People are desperate to lose weight.

I'm guessing some of us remember wanting to take off "X" pounds for some upcoming event.

Sounds like it will make money to me. Sigh.

Man that is a proverb if I ever read one. Long ago I had borderline anorexia (age 16, I'm 33 now) and let me tell you this will lead to just even more distorted eating habits for the 'average fatty'

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
