Guys, I don't like bacon anymore!

Recommended Posts

I cannot stand any kind of canned meat. Canned chicken or tuna makes me want to get sick. It tastes like chemicals to me. Also I can't eat anything grilled on charcoal.

The one weird thing I no longer like after surgery is sugar free popsicles ......I loved them for years! Ate them every evening....now not so much!

But another weird thing I've been craving since surgery is Mexican food! Before surgery Mexican food was okay but was not my favorite......I made some healthy burritos using ground chicken, fat free re-fried Beans and low carb tortillas for dinner last night and it was fantastic!!

For me, its spaghetti sauce. I used to adore it as "the ambrosia for the Gods".

Now, just smelling it makes me nauseous. I think, maybe because it's too rich for me post op. I like just fresh tomatoes--heated and seasoned with fresh herbs served over miracle noodles.< /p>

Just think--I used to eat cold spaghetti for Breakfast and take spaghetti sandwiches for lunch to school. Oh, the times---they are a chang'n!

:)

Spaghetti sandwich? There is someone else who used to do that besides me? Spaghetti, home made spicy sausage and mushroom sauce that had reduced all day on a simmer, miracle whip and a slice of havarti on soft white bread. It's no wonder that I gained weight...

Take off the miracle whip and put the rest of the yumminess onto a crusty rye and we could be star crossed fat friends forever! :)

But, the animals are so tasty!!!!! .... :(

(only joking, couldn't help myself)

I'm going through a "i like it today, but it grosses me out tomorrow" phase right now.

I am finding i can have only 1 type of food per meal... eg... if i have chicken for lunch. . I can't have it two days in a row.. and its not just meat.. its all foods... very annoying. . I hope it passes

Cranberry sauce, Jello and pudding.

Used to like 'em all.........now, though....won't touch them with a ten foot pole.

Disgusted by them.

Its funny how that happens.... i went grocery shopping today and could barely think of what to buy.. almost everything was turning me off.....

I am hoping this resolves itself soon, otherwise i feel i could fall into the habit of grazing...

chicken..hate chicken now and it's one of the best Proteins to eat.

Bacon.:loved it before now while I don't hate it, I can definitely live without it. For the most part I can live without any pork variation and I loved ham.

Burgers...can't stomach them now.

Pasta..thankfully its a big no no anyway but I can't stand any Pasta.

tuna or any other canned meat. It must be the texture but nope, not happening

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
