Late June Sleeve Buddies?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! I'm not a sleever but had RNY on 6/27 so I've been lurking your group a little bc we don't have a similar group and with you all being on the same timeline as me, it was nice to see some shared experiences. Plus, y'all are a really nice group. I did want the sleeve but had to go RNY for major GERD issues. I found it really interesting that a lot of you are having cravings bc one of the advantages of the sleeve is that when they remove the large portion of the stomach, the evil hunger hormones go away. A few of your posts are cute and funny and I'm wondering if it's actual cravings or just missing the act of eating. I literally could care less about food and, in fact I'm worried that when I go see my surgeon at my 1st post op tomorrow, he's going to put me on soft phase and I don't feel ready. Always, you're a fun group and hope you don't mind me lurking to see what everyone is going through. Congrats to us all for making a brave decision to take back our health!

I have found that when I think I'm having a hunger pain I'm just actually thirsty.

Oh no! I just tried my Protein Shake I loved before surgery and now it tastes like burned chocolate Water. . I heard your taste buds change, but so they go back?

I had the same reaction to the Protein Shakes after surgery. I put mine in a blender with a few cubes of ice, it kind of lightened the density of the shake and changed the flavor a little, too. Much more bearable, at any rate!

I'm off to my 2 weeks post-op appointment! I'll have to confess that I've moved myself to some soft foods before I got the 'ok', but I think my doc will be fine with it. Worst thing that's happened to me post-op is that I've developed a raging yeast infection everywhere except internally :-( I've got it under my breasts, in my belly button, in my armpits...anywhere there's skin and a bit of moisture or folds. It happens every. single. time. I have to take antibiotics, it just took 13 days to appear this time. 'Diflucan or die' is my motto for today!

Hope you're all having good days :-)

I think if you search Ricotta you will find that recipe as there is a thread on ricotta that included a mushy friendly recipe!

Going out on date night with husband tomorrow and I'm extremely nervous to eat at a restaurant! Booked a seafood place which seems to be the most sleeve friendly option...just nervous about the whole experience, I guess!

I just tried ice cold Water, crushed ice, unflavored Isopure and 4 "true lime" (powered lime no sugars) packets. Very good and not bad for 25g Protein.

This sounds very good! I have all the ingredients, I'm going to make it this afternoon. How much Water and Isopure did you use?

My nut had given me some sites to go to when you are ready to dine out. I can't find the list. The only thing I can find is Healthydiningfinder.com I hope that helps some people before they decide to go out to a restaurant. Don't forget to bring your card as it makes it easier to order small portions and I think you might get a discount.

I used more water than needed about 12 ounces and a lot of crushed ice. It takes awhile for me to drink so I like a lot of ice to keep it cold.

Today is my 2 weeks mark! My checkup isn't until tomorrow afternoon but I've gone ahead and tried some puréed bean Soup and some mushy carrots. Both were good but neither filled me up. Still better than just broth and Protein drinks! Headed to the grocery store to stock up on items. I can't do eggs or any meat for two more weeks. But I am still excited to add grits and oatmeal and yogurt lol. My scale says I am down about 19-20 pounds. I was hoping for more but I know it will come off.

Was this homemade bean Soup or store? I would kill for a good black bean soup or bean soup recipe that is tried and true. I would like to learn to make it myself. Sounds so good. Is the oatmeal baby food flake oatmeal or regular oatmeal. I'd kill for some of that....
It was just a Campbell's bean soup. When I added the Water and puréed it, it wasn't much thicker than soup. The oatmeal I got is the weight control kind by Quaker. I haven't tried it yet so I am not sure if I will like it

I am home from my checkup. Everything is good and I lost 20.9 pounds. I am now on puréed officially. I can't do the ricotta bake yet--but I am planning to try it in two weeks (no eggs allowed at this point). I did have some ricotta cheese for dinner though lol. I asked about swimming but I have to wait until the incisions have zero scabs. I hope that's soon!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
