I just want to send you my sympathy. From the day I received my surgery date I also gained 10 pounds. I ate everything I could get my hands around feeling like I'd never eat again. Now I'm two weeks away and finally got on the wagon to lose it all. I know how disappointed your feeling, but rest assured your aren't the only one who has done this.

Hey girls,

I'm doing pretty well. The Dr. wanted me to replace 2 meals with liquid, and I've been doing one liquid meal, one Lean cusine, or 1 liquid and 2 lean cusines. Probably about 800 a day. I've lost about 3 lbs. I think the sodium in the LC's is making me retain Water. I might take a Fluid pill before I go for my weigh on the 31st. I've got a week to go. If im down 10lbs since my devistating visit, I can have surgery on September 7th. If it comes down to it I just won't eat a few days before! I emailed them today, and asked if I was not getting enough calories? Too many? I've been walking only about 25 min a day, I'm so tired after working 7-5 that I am exhausted when I get home and can only stand about 25 min in the heat. I've got next week off.... It was supposed to be my recovery time! Not working will make it harder NOT TO EAT. But I'm going to get a lot more exercise in. So its all riding on the 31st apt. I'm not panicing yet. I've still got some time. As much as Ive been suffering this week I thought I'd be down about 20lbs by now. I've been sleeping so soundly though, thats nice. This is definitely getting me better mentally prepared for post-surgery eating. The girls at work went to our favorite mexican resturant and I passed today! Thats huge. Cause I'm all about some Mexican food. But it feels better comming back from lunch not feeling fat and stuffed. I've been steppin a little livlier! I can't wait till I've 1, had surgery, 2, reovered, 3, start feeling good and losing. Fall clothes are gonna be soo much more fun. So for now, I'm keeping my eye on the goal. Im gonna go see a movie with a friend, and I'm allready thinking about how much I love movie popcorn!!! Be strong. Not to mention we had every sales rep in Charlotte come buy with goodies for us this week. I had to make a pinky pledge with a coworker not to dive into the krispy kreem doughnuts. I'm better for it. Thanks for all your good thoughs. It helps so much.

Glad to hear you're sticking to it! You go girl. What kind of shakes are you using. Make sure the carb count isn't too high. That can slow you down. I know that it's hard to exercise but that really helps me. Even just doing a 15 minute walk everyday. I haven't done too many days where I do more then that. You might take some crackers with you to the movie. Only 6. That's the magic number they use for us for our bread supplement. It gives me the crunch and salt when I want to have chips or popcorn. Tiny bites so they last. You're doing an extremely good job and it's only 7 days to the 31st. You'll do it.

I'm with JulieNYC and others on this one. I got angry as I read your post. Sounds like your surgeon (who should know better considering the population he is ministering to) was judging you and punishing you for having an overeating problem. Losing weight before the surgery is a good thing because of the liver problem, but if that's what your surgeon wanted, he should have made that clear to you from the beginning as my surgeon did. And he should have a policy, as many do, of one to two weeks on a liquid fast beforehand. It was wrong of him to react the way he did. Since the surgery is postponed anyway, perhaps you might want to consider a different surgeon. Good luck, and lots of hugs.

Just got back from the movie. A few weeks ago we went to see Transformers.... About 30 minutes into it, someone comes in and says the Water is not working, so we all have to leave. They gave us a free pass to come back. So tonight we go to see Transformers again........and after the previews a storm knocks the power out. It's pitch black in the theater. All you can see is the exit signs at the bottom. We were sitting in the very top and have to walk all the way down by the light of our cell phones. I don't think it's meant for us to see this movie! How bizzare. It's so funny.

***I'm using the low carb slimfast. I have a giant insulated mug that I keep in the freezer. I pour a whole chocolate slimfast into a mug and fill the rest up with water. That makes it soo much easier to drink. It makes it like chocolate milk. So, we'll see how tomorrow goes. I just hate that I'm so intimidated about this appointment to WEIGH on the 31st. I'm off work tomorrow, so I've got to keep busy, so I won't eat. You never realize how much you base your life around food, until it's not there. Any other night, before the movie we would have gone and blown it out at Olive Garden, or On the Border. I miss it. I used to look so forward to what I was going to eat and OVER EAT. Something is definitely missing now. What will I fill that place with? I really don't even know how to put that "thing" into words that food gives you. I know all of you know what I'm talking about.

I sure do know what that thing means. To me food is/was my best friend sort of - it was always there for me and never let me down. When I got stressed it was there and I always felt better after I consumed huge amounts of food until I looked in the mirror or had to be with my slim friends and their beautiful clothes and shoes.

But now I am on Day 9 of my liquid preop diet. I have stuck to it completely (except for 1 banana) and now this morning I was down 14 pounds. Can you believe it? I hardly can. I feel better than I have in a long time. I can move a little better, I am not limping and I am not in so much joint pain.

So Mermaidpuppy - keep your chin up and start anew every day and don't give up. You will feel so good about yourself.

My surgery is Monday August 27th, so pray for me okay and I will pray for you.

Thanks,

shelli:ranger:

Sheli! That is amazing. 14lbs is awesome! Are you excited about Monday? I can't wait to hear all about it. What time do you have to go in? Did they give you a million perscriptions? I was down 5 this morning in a week. 5 more lbs to go before next Friday. I know I can do it. I feel like im studying for an exam or something. So your on all liquids? Thats intense. I live for my one lean cusine a day. I'm becomming quite the coniseur. I think I'll start all liquids on Wednesday and Thursday before my weigh in on Friday. You are my new hero though, 14lbs!!! Just think.......that'll be 14 that is gone forever hopefully. Thats the main thing im looking forward to about the band, the selling point for me.......I know it will be still be a struggle to lose, but hopefully easier NOT TO GAIN BACK. I think im gonna go shopping, walk around the mall a little bit. In my fat clothes. None of my cute stuff from last summer fits, I can't wait to wear it again. Thank god for stretchy black pants. They are a fat girl lifesaver. Stay strong sister, I'm off to the mall!!! I'll be thinking about you!

That is great mermaidpuppy, you are half way there. You go girl! You CAN do it! Just called the hospital and found out I am to report in at 9:30 a.m. Now I really am getting nervous. They found some bacteria in my urine culture so I have to go to the pharmacy and pick up a prescription for Cipro just to be on the safe side. I just pray I make it thru the surgery with few problems but I guess we all feel that way. Day 10 of the liquid preop today - yep all liquids. I don't feel hungry today so I am forcing myself to drink every two hours and alternating my Carnation Instant Breakfast with broth and a ton of Water. I would kill for a Lean Cuisine right now - lol. For one glimpse of a second I thought to myself gee I wish I could order a pizza and eat the whole thing today but then I snapped back to reality and drank my shake - ugh!!!!

Have fun shopping mermaid and thanks for the post.

Hello everyone. I finally had my appointment today. I had lost 14lbs in 14days on my semi liquid diet. i was so relieved! My surgery is scheduled for Sept 7th. On the way to my appointment this morning I was in stop and go traffic and a truck locked it up, a car hit him and I hit the car and totaled my little mustang convert. Airbags, seatbelt clearly imprinted across my chest and everything. I'm ok. The girl I hit was fine, standing on the sidewalk until the ambulance got there then she ended up in a neckbrace and back board going to the hospital. So........yes my surgery is scheduled, if its meant for me to have it. Standing on the sidewalk I called my Dr's office to tell them I would be late. They finally called me back and said to come when I could. I couldn't go to the hospital interview today, so I have to go Tuesday at 4. Another afternoon at work. I hope all this isn't a a sign! Now hopefully I'll still have some money left after my insurance smack down for new skinny clothes!

Wow, even a car accident isn't going to stop you. It was meant to be. The best of luck. I think the worse is behind you.

mermaidpuppy... For all that you have been through to get an appointment for your lap band surgery I think the Dr should give it to you for nothing... You poor soul, what a mess you have been through and then to top it off you end up in an auto accident and total your little mustang convertable....

All I can say is "Bless your little pea pickin heart" and Good Luck wishes are being sent your way...

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
