Looks like we just threw this rule out with the whole straw thing.....

Except in the case of strictures, of course.

We should start a WLS Mythbusters show.

We should start a WLS Mythbusters show.

The first person I'd like to call out on the carpet was my last NUT.

She spent all this time telling my class how much she understood us......because she was one of us....a former wls patient, too. She gives all the same textbook answers each and every time in classes an on our private fb page. Same answers....same "myths" all the time.

Her advice is hard to take for me.....for two reasons: 1) it never varies or is customized to the individual or their limitations or history 2) she must not be adhering to her own advice because she either never reached her goal......or has had significant regain.

1) It seriously slows down your eating.

2) It ensures the food is properly masticated and will go down easier.

Both of those points were valid and important in those first 12-18 months, but....

1) I'm 2 1/2 years out and know exactly how much food I need to eat to feel satisfied, but not full, so what difference does it make if I eat it in 5 min vs 20 min?

2) my anatomy/tolerance is such that a golf ball would go down just as easily as a couple tablespoons of Soup.

I am preop, scheduled for 7/28 (I just love saying that!). When they first told me about the chewing and they told me to go ahead and start practice that. I am typically a slow eater and the last to finish when we go out, and I discovered I was already chewing even more than they said.

My question is, if you are not taking long to eat, how do you handle finishing first when you are with a group of people? Are you left to twiddle your thumbs while everyone else is eating? Are you tempted to continue to nibble on your plate?

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
