July 4th! Only 3 sleeps away. 3 rather hungry sleeps.... I'm so excited for this! A bit nervous, but I trust in in good hands. Is anyone else out there struggling with the liquid diet? Or are there different pre-Op diets out there? (I'm in Australia).

Hey! im july the 4th and also an aussie! from sydney :)

Oh wow! How exciting! I'm on the south coast. Having my surgery at Nowra Private Hospital. It's so exciting to finally be here after a 6 month journey through all the pre-Op assessments. I'm nervous for the recovery period at the moment though. I've got a 2 year old so I'm hoping that I'll still be after to manage with her after the first week post op (when hubby goes back to work). I'm new to this forum so I'll have to read about expected recovery times. I've got 4 weeks of work for my recovery :) it's nice to have a fellow aussie in here! Will have to keep in touch and see how you're doing afterwards!

Hey guys i had surgery Fri. 7/1. I'll be going home today hopefully. I did cheat. Although I didn't go crazy, had frozen yogurt on a waffle cone on Wednesday. I also had 2 slices of pizza the night before surgery. Although I had nothing else to eat or drink the whole day Until just before my cutoff time 10pm. Had procedure around 1030 am. There was no issue. No questions about what I ate. My surgery went well. So i wouldn't worry about it too much. Just be very mindful.

How are you feeling today after the surgery? Any major gas pains? I'm assuming you are still in the hospital. How's it going?

I've been enjoying a few indulgences before I start my 2-week diet on 7/5. Nothing major - a hot dog here, some ice cream there, maybe a pastry or two. ;) I'm not really dreading the liquid diet since for the past 5 months, I would usually have just a Protein Shake for Breakfast and again for lunch and eating only dinner (with a few light Snacks in between). My surgery is on 7/19. I sometimes feel tiny twinges of dread as I think about the actual procedure of what it going to happen, but I snap out of it because I know this is the only road for me because I am tired of the yo-yo-ing I've been doing all my life.

My surgery date is 7/7/16 . On day 3 of the pre op diet and having a horrible time . It's so bad that I'm thinking about canceling my surgery. Is the post op diet comparable to the pre op ? I don't know if it's caffeine withdrawal or the strict diet but I feel terrible ! Headaches, nauseous and no energy . HELP .... Please give me hope and tell me it gets better .

If you could do it Chelle! If possible, go to bed and forget about it. I do not think my doctor or insurance requires the two-week liquid diet. I think it is a 24-hour liquid diet prior to surgery. I am so glad.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
