8weeks post op progress

Recommended Posts

I really have been able to tell a lot of changes in my body even though when I look in the mirror I don't exactly see them!

I have had a relatively easy time with everything. I realize when I do feel crappy and dump it is my fault, but even then it isn't terrible. I know I am lucky, but I do think a lot of your post op experience has to do with your mentality in general.

I am so glad I had this procedure done, before having RNY on 4/4/16, I would work out for 1-1.5 hours a day 4x/week. I lost a little but it was incredibly slow and if I worked out any less or took a vacation for eating healthy I would gain back in a weekend what took me a month to lose.

I just found out today that a good childhood friend of mine died of a heart attack last night. Just weeks before her 31st birthday. She was obese her whole life, and since her passing it makes me even more thankful I made the decision I did.post-285218-14649609969727_thumb.jpg

Thank you all! It definitely is a very sad ordeal, but I am glad all of us on this forum have decided to take steps to prevent us from a fatal heart attack

Great job!!! Went in for my 3 months post op check on Tuesday. I've been ecstatic so far with the changes. My surgeon is, as well. Then he told me- "are you ready? You are entering the "sweet spot" for weight loss." My reply- "excuse me? Aren't I in it now?"

"Nope", he said, " months 3-9 after bypass is the sweet spot when the majority of the weight comes off."

Okay. Holy Crapola!!! I nearly fell over! I've dropped almost 70 pounds since I began in December- 50 since surgery 3 months ago! I have another 60-70 to go. (Not sure where I want to land- 140 or 130...we will see when I get near there.)

Keep it up girl! You look great and I bet you're feeling better too!!!

I see were you said your weight was coming off slow, did you do anything different to get it going faster? Or you kept with the program and it finally came off? I go to the gym 4-5 times a week. I had the bypass 8/17/2017, starting out at 278 and only 248 now... it's been a very slow process. But I have followed the program to a T.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
