Hi , are there any people out there that have had the gastric sleeve and still stay hungry? Even though they said you would have to remind yourself to eat? It just really depresses me because I've gained some of my weight back, and I don't know what to do. I crave sweets like a crack head craves crack, LOL. I don't know what's up but does anybody have any advice or suggestions. I need a good protien smoothie that will really fill me up.

Yep. The whole no hunger thing certainly didn't apply to me, or most people that post on forums. First off, Gherlin is produced in other parts of your body. Secondly, most hunger is really just head hunger anyways, especially if it's certain foods you are craving. If you were really truly physically hungry, a bite of bland, dry chicken would be just as satisfying as a piece of your favorite cake.

In the end, success after WLS all comes down to winning the mental battles and changing your eating behaviors. And the only way to get rid of craving sweets is to stay away from sweets completely. Some people can do moderation but some people can't and have to completely abstain. For them it would be like telling a crack addict to just smoke "a little bit". Like all addicts, finding a good therapist or getting counseling is the only way to develop the psychological tools needed to make your physical tool work. If you aren't already getting this kind of help I strongly suggest it.

I am rarely physically hungry. I have some lot of head hunger like everyone else. There is a disconnect between my brain and my stomach. My head hunger does not trigger physical hunger. So it is easier to resist items and keep my portions small.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
