endoscopic gastric sleeve

Recommended Posts

hi all i am currently looking at my options for a gastric sleeve, on one site in the UK a new procedure is for endoscopic non surgical gastric sleeve, it promises less invasion, not cuts scars and a 3 day healing time, this seems too good to be true so i thought i would see if i could find someone who has had this done?.

this a new procedure which looks to staple the stomach from the inside, so i dont know if the effects are the same as noram sleeve op, IE hunger hormone release etc .

any information greatly received

the cuts and scars on the outside are not much of an issue with the sleeve, so I am not sure how I would rate the benefits. You still have healing on the inside and such.

I hope someone comes along that can offer more perspective and insight. Let us know how your path goes along, Claire. wishing you all the best.

Never heard of that procedure. I wouldn't go to a surgeon who hasn't done at least 100 of them. I don't want to be the guinea pig.

The sleeve incisions aren't so bad. I had four in various positions near my belly button. Three were very small, and the fourth was not much larger, but is where they pulled out the excess stomach out to discard. That one was sore four a couple of weeks, but I did not need any pain meds.

At 2 1/2 years out, I have to look hard to find the three smaller scars, and I know where they are. The largest now is no bigger than a mosquito bite and just slightly pink. personally, I would rather have the external surgery than to have someone shoving tools down my throat.

my main worry is im a real coward when it comes to pain, and healing and it seems a short recovery time as opposed to 3 -8 weeks of soreness and liquid diets etc etc

seems like a quick fix and i like it! but need a little more info, i dont mind being a guinea pig, i have NHS care if the worse case scenario i would be seen, and i work in spain so also covered for emergencies etc.

my BMI is 35 so i fall in to the category for this rather than gastric.

anyway im hoping to have the op done early July one way or another i will try and keep updated especially if i have the endoscopic choice

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
