I wait 20-30 minutes BEFORE & AFTER a meal.

It gets easier...it really does. I don't even miss it at mealtimes anymore.

I usually have a sip or two while I eat. I just can't otherwise

After 6 months, I kind of do what I want. I still only take a few sips.

I'm 7 months post sleeve. At this point, I can get a glass of Water before my meal and drink some, but once my food comes, I set my glass to the side. This works well for me. From what my NUT told me, it's not harmful to drink during a meal, but it washes your food down and you won't have the fullness feeling.

with my team's plan I can drink right up until I start to eat and then wait 30 minutes after, although to be fair - if I am eating mostly Protein it is sometimes an hour before I can stand the thought of drinking, other than a sip or so if something is super spicy or my palete needs refreshed. I was told not to worry about that.

for me it's one of those thing I thought would be a bigger problem than it has turned out to be.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
