The only items I used were my phone and charger. The hospital supplied everything else that I needed even lotion, a tooth brush and tooth paste. You'll be in a hospital gown and slipper socks that they provide.

So, my surgery is this Tuesday the 24th of May. Just curious if I'm prepared or not. This is what I have besides a change of clothes and my cell phone...

1. Chapstick

2. A Blanket

3. Toothbrush

4. Toothpaste

5. Mouthwash

6. Body wash

7. My tablet

8. Chargers

9. hair brush

10. Deodorant

11. Wash rag

12. Slippers

13. Gas X Strips

14. Socks

15. Q-Tips

16. Lotion

I ended up going home instead of being admitted, but I would forgo the toothbrush, toothpaste, bodywash, cotton swabs, washrag, blanket, and socks because the hospital will supply it, unless you are particular about having certain things. The items I added were a heating pad, robe, lingerie, and the other 90% of the carryon luggage was filed with Hello Kitty plushes (to decorate my room), at least 1 was for splinting my abdomen. Before going home, don't forget to ask for lots of adhesive remover pads! If you try to remove sticky adhesive from your skin at home, it's very difficult and your skin will get raw. bmi.png

@jea(n__n)were

Yes, unfortunately, I am a bit of a germ-o-phobe, so I hear over and over again. I like to use things that I know have already been sanitized. I am also bringing anti-bacterial soap to wash my hands because I need to wash them often. Not something I wanted to say here in the forum, but oh well.

Also, I will definitely stay at least one night. The doctor already told me. He said probably two but definitely 1.

I will ask for the adhesive remover pads thank you for recommending those. That's a great idea!!

I just got home from the hospital today. Had surgery Wednesday. I packed a bag, didn't use anything but my phone. I was in lala land Wednesday night and Thursday night I was so sick. But Friday and today was great. I did pack chap stick. Used that I didn't get to eat or drink anything until Thursday and that was just Water.

I took my own pillow for comfort. If you do, don't use a white pillow case because it can get put in with the hospital ones.

@,

Sounds like you’re ready to go! Will you want a book or crossword puzzles or something else to do just in case you’re bored out of your mind? Even if it’s not something you normally do, it might come in handy if you have down time and need something light to do.

@@Alex Brecher - I am with you. I pack many things when I travel because my biggest fear is boredom. But having multiple contingency plans helps me relax.

Hmmmm, I have been thru a few surgeries before and there is the "I'm a guy" thing. sooooooo

I went in wearing shorts, a tee shirt and flip flops. They gave me a plastic bag in pre-op. I put my shorts and tee shirt and flip flops in the bag.....and away I went.

In recovery I put back on the shorts, the tee shirt and when I walked the halls I wore the flip flops.

Slept alot........went home in the shorts, tee shirt and flip flops. See, simple.....(it's a guy thing) B)

I have to agree with everyone else. The only thing I used from my bag was my phone and charger. Hospital provided everything else.

I brought my own pillow from home, and I'm glad I did. I used my phone, charger, toothbrush and toothpaste. I had a pair of PJ pants that I wore under my johnny shirt so my butt wasn't hanging out. And my non slip slippers. That's all I used, and I was in for 3 nights, 3 days. The hospital provided everything else that I needed. I wore the same clothes home that I wore in (sweatpants and a t shirt)

Good luck!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
