Band mentality, sleeve tummy

Recommended Posts

I had revision surgery March 2nd, like most I was have severe reflux and couldn't keep any food down. When I went in for a consult I was 148 and pretty happy. I still had 10lbs to lose to get to pre-baby weight but I wasn't too worried about it, I felt good. Dr unfilled me in December and I gained about 20lbs before revision! I've lost 15lbs in 2 months, definitely not what I thought since with the band I lost weight so fast. I have heard that revision patients lose slower so I'm trying to not stress about it. So the reason I'm writing this... I've noticed that I still have my band mentality. With the band since it was soooo hard for food to go down I would slowly eat food for hours and not get much down. Well now I'm struggling with the grazing. Obviously with my new stomach food isn't sitting in a pouch it goes down. I know this is not good and probably a big part of why I'm not losing weight. Any one else struggle with this?

I had my revision on 4/4. After my revision I also struggle with the band mentality. With the band there was certain foods that were off limits. I find that I still stay away from those foods especially certain types of meats due to they way they felt going down when I had the band. I also find myself grazing especially when I'm at home but I try to turn to healthy choices such a string cheese or sugar free Popsicles.

I was a band to sleeve revision. I lost weight quickly with the sleeve, quicker than the band and I got much lower. What I noticed is that I did have to make an effort to switch to sleeve eating, to eat Protein first. That's really key to weight loss and mine always slowed when I didn't do that. 2-4 oz of meat fills that little tummy and stays there for a long time. I'm immediately full. If you graze or eat other types of foods first you won't get the sleeve working the way you want. It works great but just tell yourself protein and every meal, protein first.

I am in the same boat. I was sleeved 1/25/16 and went in weighing 220 lbs. As of today I am only down to 195lbs. I am happy that I am down to my pre baby weight that I got down to with my lapband, but hearing the weight loss of others makes me feel like a total failure! :( I also am totally stuck on lapband habits. I pretty much became a vegetarian with my lapband because nothing would ever go down. Now I have to force myself to eat meat and remind myself that I am able too. I still reach for those little easy go to Snacks that I always knew would "go down." It's definitely been a struggle. And to think I am hitting the 5 month mark and only down 25lbs.......

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
