I am so sorry to hear you're going through this. I really don't like that he's saying you played a part in this. Without knowing all the specifics, I think that sounds really unfair. You don't deserve to be blamed for him hurting you! And this is super effed up timing on his part. It is vitally important that you concentrate on yourself and your health right now. So please take good care of yourself and consider getting your own therapist outside of the marriage counseling. I think it would be great to have someone concerned solely with your wellbeing.

So many aspects to this. And I DON'T know you or your psychological makeup or challenges or your situation.

However, my immediate thought was: Don't self-medicate your feelings in this situation -- with meds or other drugs or food.

As the kids say, this is the time to feel your feels. All of them. This is not the time to go numb. Chances are (?) this is the first time in a long time you've not pushed some of those important emotions down and numbed yourself up.

It's look-at-real-s**t time.

Very, very best to you and your family!

Thanks guys. He called today to set up our first couples counciling session (2 weeks), he also set up his individual counciling as I did mine.

I should clarify that he isn't trying to say his actions are my fault, but he still think his emotional state was my fault. Which is call BS, because it wasn't so bad I saw abything. He was playing happy at home. It's complicated.

Just know we are a caring group and support each other.

I say yes on the counseling and yes on the drugs. You truly need to sleep or you will have serious mental (and health)

Issues. There are things that can settle your mind and body while you take a chance to regroup yourself.

Please stay as healthy as you can[emoji171]

I called about sleep meds and asked about something for the anxiety not to numb the feelings but because my stomach is doing the stress which is making eating food impossible. I have been living on not enough Protein, not enough calories and can barely keep down yogurt. She gave me some stuff that she hopes will help. I tried to go to the gym today to take my mind off but didn't last long, no sleep and no food make for a weak workout.

It's a process. I'll be fine most of the day then melt down... I truly hope things work out but still preparing incase it doesn't we both have a long way and a lot to deal with.

@@csawesome Stay strong and get some rest! Worrying will not change the future. My sister went through something very similar (minus the WLS) a few years back with her husband of 20 years (now ex-husband) with 2 children (teenagers). It was very difficult but once she got past all of the hurt and impact on the family - she is in a great place emotionally and mentally!

csawesome, I use a supplement called GABA to help with sleep. It is a natural hormone made by the brain. It is a "feel good" supplement and helps to quiet the mind so you can sleep. I use 750 mgs right before bed and I sleep through the night. It has really helped me to have good restful sleep for the past 2 years. You can get this supplement typically anywhere, but I get mine online through Amazon.< /p>

I hope everything works out for you. This is added stress you really didn't need at this time in your life. Concentrate on you and the kids first, and let your husband know he is important and so is your relationship, but you need to be sure that your children and yourself are priority.

I am sorry.

So very, very sorry.

I hate to say this, but it there is likely far, far more going on than the 'past few weeks' and has NOTHING to do with weight gain nor loss and I hate to say it, but he will be back and/or keep you on a rotten carrot string as a back-up.

I used to be afraid that my ex would leave me, then when I talked to the "other one", I was told.."No, you should be afraid that they do NOT leave". My son would have the rest of his childhood sucked away by this person..

IDK your situation at all, but as I just got out of a relationship with a narcissistic or some kinda Cluster B personality disordered person, your story is a red flag to me, so I will encourage you (or anyone in a relationship that makes no sense) to go to the Facebook page or Webpage called; "Let Me Reach" by Kim Saeed. Her site has magical articles that explain what I suspect was going on for a while, mainly her focus is narcissism in relationships. Note: Not all narc people have "all" the traits, but it is a great place for support and information.

Good luck.

Way not to take his BS and transfer of responsibility. He does need to own this if there is any chance for healing. He needs to rebuild the trust he destroyed. That is a long row to hoe. I hope he's not trying to buy his way back in. You might want to check out this site: https://www.gottman.com/ I think Dr. Gottman has some of the best materials for helping to communicate better and building trust.

Sorry I haven't posted back. Well you guys were right it had been going on for months, the sex part didn't start until the last month.

Everyday I think I can move on, something else comes down.

Luckily I have the best support group of friends a person could ever ask for. Am still working on Protein and calories but keep working it.

Sometimes I clearly see the path forward other times I just get through the day. I never thought a person could cause this much pain. Let alone my husband. But I cross my fingers that things will work, and in the mean time I prepare for when they dont.

@@csawesome - I'm so sorry for what you are going through. I have sort of been there ((no kids). GET THEE TO A LAWYER TO PROTECT YOU AND THE KIDS. I can't state how important this is. Find out what your rights are in the event it all goes to hell in a handbasket. The fact that he was the one who had the affair affects things legallay in divorce in most states. (Not offering legal advice for CO where I am not licensed. - but do talk to someone.) That being said, spend some time with your therapist determining what you want. Take care of you and the kids first. He's a grown ass man who can take care of himself.

That being said, the easiest 180 pounds I ever lost was when I divorced husband 1 in 1993. It was the best thing that ever happened to me because it put me in the place were I met the wonderful man who is now my husband and the amazing father to our 2 kids. Try to be open to whatever the universe (or God - depending on your beliefs) is telling you.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

      2. Selina333

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

      3. Doughgurl

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
