Hospital stay... To bra or not to bra?

Recommended Posts

Going in on Friday... I plan to be there for 4-5 days, usually I am not too comfortable without bra, I am bringing my pjs but not sure how the bra situation will go, should u bring one or not bother since I probably won't be able to put it on myself etc? Would like your inputs please...

They normally don't let you wear a bra when you are going into surgery and its difficult to put one on because of your IV....

I took a crop top bra with me and wore that (with assistance from the nurse to move the IV)

To be honest, I didn't actually care.. but i thought i should wear something so i do not scare the little children lol

As soon as I woke up, I put on a front closing bra. I don't think I would have been ok to put on a traditional back closing one at that point, but I NEEDED support and the front closing was just enough that no one got their eyes put out or stepped on them dragging across the floor! LOL

My boobs hurt if I don't have a bra on shortly after waking up everyday! I'm going to need a bra, and I'm just going to have to ask for help. Considering my age, and how huge my boobs are, they aren't nearly as saggy as they could be. I'd like to try and keep it that way until they just shrink and I'm left with empty bags hanging on my chest :P

Honestly I only ever went without a bra at home on my days off..n not going anywhere...so the thought of walking around the hotel halls n leaving the hospital without one was scary...n guess what?! ...I couldn't have cared less!!. I didn't put one on till 2 weeks after..mostly cause mine are serious underwire n I was worried. U will not care....really lol

I got a "soft cup" bra. It took me several weeks before I could go back to underwire or anything tight.

I took a sports bra with me but actually did not put on while in the hospital. For the few days in the hospital did not care it was the least of my worries. When I had to walk around on the surgical ward the nurses draped another gown over me like a robe which I found comfortable as opposed to trying to tie the gown I was wearing. This allowed me some modesty. Post op and just been wearing sports bras and everyone is happy.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
