I'm enslaved on May 15th and can hardly wait... I told my family and everyone has their opinion but I know I must do this for me. My husband is supportive and together we will embrace our future as I become healthier and happier be here for my grandchildren.

The typo was oddly appropriate, ha. I felt "enslaved" by my weight prior to having the VSG, and weight loss has in many ways emancipated me physically and emotionally. Best wishes to you for a healthier, happier future free of what holds you back now.

Well my 5/16 got postponed today... Big bummer!! Had MRI for a headache that lasted a week... turns out I had a minor stroke - OMG! No damage thank God but PCP wants more testing. I'm certainly blessed they found out before I was laying on the surgery table! Hopefully it wont be put off more then a week or two.. I'm in shock actually...

Ye gads! Glad you found that out when you did.

Have heard many stories of pre-op testing that revealed all kinds of things no one would have learned had they not been prepping for WLS.

Congrats on learning about this.

God was in the plan and he had that to be revealed on your behalf. He is still in the miracle business. Just trust in him and he will heal you for the procedure. Thank God for no damages.

Are there any sleevers out there that are singers? I'm having my surgery on 5/24 and I'm wondering what it will do to my voice, since the sleeve surgery is done near the diaphragm (and everyone knows a singer uses their diaphragm- LOL!!). My singing voice is one of the most special gifts I possess and I want to know if my sound will change after being sleeved.

Thoughts?

Thanks ProudGrammy....Your words were so timely and came at the perfect moment! My surgeon just told a few minutes ago that my surgery has been postponed until June 6. I am so bummed out! Due to the minor stroke, my surgeon wants me to be cleared by a neurologist and that doctor isn't available to see me before Tues 5/24 (my former surgery date). AGH!!! Yes,, I know God is in control and I have to be patient...I've come this far so I can't quit. I'm just very sad right now...

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
