Recommended Posts

I weighed 269 at my preop appt which was 4/8/16. Was put on a 10 day liquid diet before surgery on the 20th.... as of now, i went from 259 at surgery day to 250 today.

Id say thats pretty darn good!

Funny, my buddy and I were literally discussing rate of loss today.

My loss is averaging 5 lbs a week. I'm almost 5 weeks post op now. I see no change in scale then Boom! I drop 4 lbs.

But having read so many success stories here and elsewhere, and following the plan and exercising like crazy, I thought I'd be melting away. I'm ok how I'm doing, just need to focus on MY reality and bypass experience

mnwimomof3 do you mind if I ask if you were exercising much during those 6 months? If so, what type of exercises. Your results are awesome! I'm hoping for the same. I'm 2 weeks out and down 14 lbs.

I lost 75 lb by six month mark and my highest weight was 286. I'm hoping to hit the century mark by year 1.

Yep, pretty much spot on for me. Started at 253. Down to 210 at 3.5 months. I'm 5'6".

Pretty close for the first six months, but the chart is less than I lost after that. I lost pretty close to all my excess weight, (depending on what you consider your goal) and that chart only shows at smaller percentage of excess weight lost. There are some who lose faster, some slower, but I think its a reasonable example.

I was only walking from surgery date of October 12 to January. To be honest not walking much at all. (Bad I know) January to now, I've been a gym rat according to my husband. lol He's a bodybuilder so I have a lot of knowledge from him about working out. Most of our friends are bodybuilders, fitness competitors, or trainers so I'm pretty lucky in that area. My workouts are usually 4 to 5 days a week and 1 1/2 to 2 hours long. Weights first and 30- 45 minutes of cardio after. Now somedays I have so much energy I do a double like yesterday. I did my time in the gym, came home prepped dinner and welcomed the children home from school and did the C25K (couch to 5K app) and followed that with squats. I think my success has a lot to do with having such awesome support from my husband. He's a clean eater so I don't have anyone eating the wrong food in front of me or asking to eat out.

Not accurate for me. I lost over a 100 lbs in the first 6 months.

Thanks for posting this.

I have been struggling NOT to make myself crazy over the idea that I am not losing enough. I am 14 weeks post op and have lost 36 pounds since surgery. It's kind of calming to see that I fall right in the low end of expectations, but only a little.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
