Recommended Posts

Hey can somebody help me? My wife had vsg on 4/13. She is having a time finding foods and drinks that she can have. All the Water and flavored waters turn her stomach. She is also having a time finding things in the purees diet that she likes. Can somebody please offer me some advice. I am really struggling to find things she likes and she is miserable.

Have her try drinking the Water at a different temp. She can have broth, yogurt, refried Beans, decaffeinated tea or coffee, cottage cheese, creamy Soup (no lumps), sugar free popsicles, hummus, Apple sauce. And on behalf of your wife - Thank You for supporting and helping!

Can she have stevia and Creamer in the coffee?

I believe so. Your plan may be different but honestly - if that's the only way for her to get in fluids I would go for it. The last thing y'all need is for her to get dehydrated.

What about Laughing Cow cheese wedges? They have a little Protein and are super creamy. That might work. Or sugar free pudding Snacks or yogurt with 1/2 scoop of Protein powder mixed in?

Some people do better with tea early on. You can also cut apple juice with Water, 50/50 mix.

For good puree recipes, check out this site:

I lived for the baked ricotta!

Oh, by the way, have you discovered PB2 yet? I just had an evening snack of sugar free dark chocolate pudding snack mixed with 1/2 scoop of chocolate Protein powder (Precision Engineered whey Protein Isolate) and 1/2 Tbsp of PB2. It was SOOOO Yummy!! Adding PB2 to some of the shakes might help also if she is a fan of Peanut Butter.

I was having difficulty with fluids so started using low cal Gatorade and electrolyte Water and slowly I was able to get more liquids down. I'm ten weeks out and am down over 60 lbs. just check with her team about low fat Gatorade instead of sugar free drinks. I just can't handle the sweeteners.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
