This is probably TMI, but I had my revision from band to RNY on April 1. I had a gi bleed afterwards and had to get a blood transfusion. I'm doing fine now. I'm on the blended/pureed stage for eating. I'm getting about 60 grams of Protein in. Drinking Water about 40-60 oz. per day. My question is, dis any of you experience diarrhea afterwards? It's usually 2-3 times per day. Just curious if this gets any better.

Thank you.

My surgeon puts everyone on blood thinners to prevent blood clots. The day after surgery I had bloody stool, about 15 of them. The surgeon said that it was more than likely bleeding from the anastomosis site, where he did the connections.

My suggestion is to make sure you get up and walk as often as you can post op. I did that, but it was just his protocol.

Good luck to you on your surgery. I feel so much better having the band out.

No diarrhea...hope you are better...the band causes complications during surgery.I am glad you are better.

Thank you, my surgeon puts everyone on blood thinners too, I will be on them for 10 days post op - lovenox I believe. I will most likely having my gallbladder removed at the same time so I am not sure how long it will make the surgery and what to expect from recovery...

Hope you will start feeling better... Maybe it's certain Protein or food that is not working for you?

I'm wondering to. I'm going to maybe watch my dairy intake and see if that helps.

It was lovenox that I was on. I had 2 doses in the hospital, then no more after that.

My surgery was about 2 and a half hours, for band to RNY.

I didn't think that the pain was to bad. If you have your gallbladder out at the same time, you might have a bit more pain. Just keep on top of your pain meds.

Right after RNY surgery I became lactose intolerant. So overtime I drank milk it led to instant diarrhea. After about 2 months after surgery, this condition disappeared. Some Protein powders/drinks contain lactose.

Ok, I think my Protein has dairy in it. I better change it. I'm wondering if that's the issue. Thank you.

My surgeon said the removal and bypass should be about an hour and half, but will most likely be longer now because of gallbladder, hopefully no other issues...

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
