Tonight I feel like I forced myself to finish 2 scallops - first off I have never eaten scallops, but they tasted soooooo good I kept thinking one more bite just one more bite. I feel so guilty that I did that I have been full for the past 3 hours. I feel like I did months ago before my sleeve (18 days out) that I would eat and eat no matter if I was full or not. Why did I do this!!! Why can't I stop - I feel so discouraged with myself

Ok, so don't beat yourself up too much. You have to learn from this. Not sure how far out you are but this is a process. My therapist tells me over and over that I did not gain all this weight overnight and how could I possibly expect change those lifelong habits overnight. Well more accurately she even says how could I imagine changing it in 10 months (as I am 10 months post-op). I made some bad choices this weekend - at least scallops aren't a terrible choice! Track it and make a note how full you got and how miserable that made you and it will remind you next time. The only way I seem to learn is by vomiting. Not really the way I want to learn that I ate too much!

Own up to it, see it on paper, reflect on how you don't want to feel this way again and then move on. If we don't learn from our mistakes, we just keep beating ourselves up and move back towards that old cycle we all lived before of overeating. Don't let that happen!

It is a process. Learning new habits takes time. At least you noticed and are examining what works and what doesn't. That is part of learning to eat mindfully. I have had to really practice slowing down, taking smaller bites, and chewing thoroughly.

Don't be so hard on yourself, no one is perfect. Not feeling good about yourself can in some cases be a self-destructive spiral, so you don't want to go to that place. If you have a lapse, I think the thing to do is to acknowledge it as a mistake and something to be avoided in the future, and then just move on.

I felt and still feel the same way sometimes. Its going to take time with learning how to adjust your eating habits I still have off days where I drink an eat to close together or yesterday I ate chocolates because I got my period an was craving it. I also realized if I want to taste something like a piece of chocolate or a dessert I am going to have a bite or two because If I tell myself I cant have it I am only going to crave it more.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
