Bjean- I have a copy of the Kite Runner ready to take with me on vacation next week! It has been recommended to me several times. Can't wait to get into it. I read a lot of non-fiction and maybe it gets dull for me. Fiction will only hold my attention if it's a REALLY good book.

Selling on Ebay is a lot harder than buying! 404 just means I shop there a lot. Whenever I 'need' something, that's the first place I look. I love a good bargain!

BJean...

Terri is right, selling on ebay is a lot harder than buying. It's easy to get scammed, VERY easy. If you decide to sell please let me know and I'll give you a link to a section of ebay that helps you not get scammed. I used to post there a lot. Only sell there (or buy if you are a newbie) after you have spent at least 20 hours or so reading that board.

I used to sell antiquarian books, that's a low fraud area. Antiques are a HIGH fraud area. You couldn't pay me to sell on ebay anymore, not in a high fraud catagory and actually, not anywhere on ebay. I know too much now and ebay is too frustrating, annoying, and they are just plain stupid in their policies. Ebay will protect themselves and NOT you.

I'm fairly new here and haven't been banded yet (Oct 2nd), but a few things about me:

I'm a portrait artist, I work in pencil and charcoal and I love to show off my work because I'm very good at what I do.

I am a sleep tech and love to talk to my patients about sleep apnea because I have it too.

I'm completely crazy about my cat, Seven.

I am a neat freak to the point that my friends ask me to come and get them organized!

I make awesome lasagna (which I probably won't be able to eat anymore once I'm banded, but that's okay)

I have more hobbies than I know what to do with: drawing, reading, painting, all sorts of crafts, and about 2 years ago started learning quilting from my grandmother and now I cant stop...obsessed with quilting now!

On hot days I love to stand in a cool shower and drink an ice cold coke

I don't want children.

A rainy day is my favorite kind of day.

I love Clancy novels, Star Trek, Cary Grant movies and 70s/80s rock

Thats me in a nutshell!

Went up against Pfizer regarding a dog drug that kills dogs. After a long fight and a front page feature story in the Wall Street Journal in 2000, we won. There were four of us that battled them together and we won.

April Fool's Day is my favorite holiday.

Went desert skiing with a group of people and broke my collarbone. That's when you get a refrigerator box and slide down a mountain. The idea is to jump out before the friction sets the box on fire. Instead, we ran into a tree. I don't drive refrigerator boxes well.

I once bought my Shih Tzu a DVD player for the car. We were going on a 2000+ mile car trip and she loves Westerns. Played Westerns all 2000 miles.

I have seasons 1-5 of "The Waltons" and I watch them while I run on my treadmill. I watch "The Big Valley" while running as well. Okay, "Little House on the Prairie" too.

I hate Cosmo but love love love reading medical journals and studies.

I used to model lingerie.

I don't care for reality shows.

I run like a girl and it shows.

There are many different kinds of photographic memories. I have one of them. I just wish it helped with spelling.

When I weigh myself I take off 2oz to account for the band.

I passed my FAA exam and have my student pilot's license and I have flown a tail dragger (only pilots would see the value in that one).

I have two dogs (Alex & Mr. Benson), a fish (Mr. Fish), and a rabbit (Pickles The Bunny).

When I'm skinny I plan on learning to parachute.

Oh geez, here we go:

I am a practicing voodoo witch. I grew up in New Orleans and my nanny taught me from very young. On my mum's side they are witches from as far back as anyone can remember. I now do private psychic readings, spiritual cleansing, and spells. I communicate freely with the 'other side' so moving to Britain has only increased this.

I am married to a former 80's hair band rock musician (now lawyer) and by day I work in his office.

I am a designer clothing, handbag, and shoe FREAK! Now maybe soon I can actually fit into my wardrobe. I have over 70k in bags and shoes. Yikes, thats makes me shiver.

I have always had a eating disorder, when I was young until nearly 30 I starved myself and used coke to keep thin, then I went through major depression after my divorce from hubby number 1 and just started comfort stuffing...thus here I am.

Lastly, I have such a sensitive nose (maybe from all the coke, lol) it made it very hard for me to date because any sort of odor that might not even be spotted by someone else made me gag. Therefore I was accused of being 'cold and frigid' because I couldn't get close or intimate alot of times.

Oh wait a minute... Nicole Kidman has never been anything but reed thin, has she?

Did you like Moulin Rouge?

You sound like someone who would be great fun to spend an evening with, chatting over dinner.

I've always wanted to try coke - to get thin - but I've never had the nerve (or source). I had a source for the band, but somehow I don't think it's as much fun.

Ohhhh, Thank you so much! That really means alot. I have been so thrilled to find my cheekbones again.

Fun...wow, I hope so. My clients seem to think so becaue I'm certainly getting alot of bookings now for sessions.

Ohhh and to Bjean regarding coke.....I know you were joking but despite how it's glorified in movies and such...coke is a terrible terrible drug. not that I think there are any good ones out there.

I have been clean for 12 years now but if I see it being used in a movie.....I still go all shivery and can actually taste it.

Ok, here goes

1. I don't post much, but I read LBT all the time

2. I have 2 tattoos and want more, plus I think guys with tats are way hotter than those without.

3. I can't wait to find someone to share my life with because I'm scared of growing old alone.

4. Cymbalta has saved my life.

5. I'm almost immediately attracted to a guy if his profession has to do with computers.

6. All of my friends would say I'm way too shy around guys and should be the freak that they know I am.

I guess that's it...and it's all about guys...dang

I thought Moulin Rouge was bizzare when I started watching it and pretty much scratched my head throughout the first viewing. Then I watched it again and fell in love. It was great! I even cried. When you aren't freaked out by the nutty production, you enjoy the story, performances and music. It is probably the only movie I have ever seen that gets better every time I see it.

No, unfortunately I wasn't kidding about coke, Voodoo. If it had been available and I thought it would do the trick, I probably would have tried it several years ago. Now of course, I have the band. You should understand though that I would do almost anything to be thin - stopping short of not eating, that is.

This obesity thing is really wacko. Unless one has been through it, one cannot begin to understand how complex it is.

I have had a really good friend who was psychic. She lives many, many miles away and we've lost touch, but having her as a friend was great. She helped me so much and was so upbeat that even though she was very unusual, I loved being around her as much as possible.

That's another thing we have in common, Bubble. My reward for reaching goal is to go sky-diving. I have ALWAYS wanted to do it, but I've always felt too embarassed to try (didn't want to try to find a jumpsuit that would fit me).

In college a good friend of mine decided to learn to use a parachute and sky dive. Her first jump she broke her ankle. She was on crutches for a long time. It made me back off from the idea, but I've always been sorry that I didn't go with her and at least try it once. I have a feeling that although the broken ankle was unfortunate and uncomfortable, the thrill of the actual jump was worth it! Go for it laurend and Bubble!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
