I am finally getting around to posting my progress/final goal pics! I had a hard time finding a photo of me at my heaviest, but I dug one up from last August. Starting weight=190, Current weight=136, Height= 5ft 8.5 inches. Loving my sleeve! One of the best decisions of my life.

24601, can you give me an idea of what your daily diet looks like now about how many calories you consume and also how much exercise you get in.... Where did you have your surgery? One other question have you experienced hair loss problems yet?

@@jenmv So I am now in maintenance mode. I eat about 1000-1300 calories a day (closer to 1000 most days). I have really started to get it up to 1400 and want to be consistent with it. I workout 4-5 days a week doing pretty strenuous workouts, so I feel like I need to be upping my calories a bit. I still eat a lot of string cheese, light Greek yogurt, and beef Jerky. I eat a lot of veggies. I don't go overboard on carbs, but I don't watch them as closely as I did when I was trying to lose. I got my surgery done in Tijuana by Dr. Kelly. The surgery went well, but I felt like his bedside manner lacked as well as his follow up.

Lastly, yes, right at 3 months my hair loss began. It sucks. I already have fine hair, but now that it's thinning, ugh. I wear a lot of pony tails.

I'm so glad I ran into this. I'm also a low BMI (5'5" 198 lbs) and have been debating whether it's a good idea (I.e., can I lose on my own etc.) but all things point to getting it done as I've been on a weight yo-yo my entire life. You inspire me to move forward. I'm scheduled for 5/10 and this is exactly what I needed. Thank you.

Do you know if your insurance will cover the surgery?

@@shelbys mom, my BMI was 29 when I got sleeved. Had to go to Mexico. Insurance wouldn't cover it. Not even all the surgeons in Mexico will do it with BMI under 30.

@@Mane2016 - I am so glad my story could be helpful. I could write a book about the positive changes the surgery has made in my life. Of course there are risks, of course there are crappy parts (mostly in the very beginning), but keep your eye on the prize! Better health, feeling wonderful, greater confidence, and looking even more amazing! Good luck on you VSG journey!

Hi 24691

Awesome effort. You look great. What kind of exercise do you do? I'm am due to be sleeved 26/5. Really worried about having the energy for things like weight training and ultimately running, bootcamp style training.

What does your daily diet consist of?

24601, thanks for the support and encouragement. I had my sleeve on Tuesday, 5/10 and I'm home. I feel the same way Idid with my c-sections (heavy in the abdomen with intermittent but bearable pain) so it's nothing that I can't handle. The best part is I'm not hungry at all. For now I'm working to get rid of all the gas. Ugghh. It's so annoying.

You look great! We're similar heights, and I was thinking 140-150 lbs was a goal, but it's nice to see kind of what that would look like on, you know? I can't imagine it right now, but I'm hoping to get where you are. Very good results! And I don't blame you or anyone else with a lower BMI -- I wish insurance would help more people nip obesity in the bud before you have to have major chronic ailments or busted joints from lugging around over 100 lbs of extra weight.

Mane2016 glad surgery went well!!! I had mine done 3 weeks ago and I feel fantastic. The first 3 or 4 days where tough (I had 2 c sections too and felt it was similar) but after that I got a huge surge of energy and haven't stopped since. My poor family is exhausted by me. I weighed today, down from 177. 4 to 163.4. I will take it allllllll day. I think slow and steady wins the race and just to feel this energetic is worth it. If you can walk those gas pains out- they were the worst. Keep us posted!!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
