Did anyone get clumsy after weight loss? (and 3 month check up)

Recommended Posts

Three month check up today. 52 pounds down, labs all good. Feeling great! Very few problems to speak of.

The real question...did anyone else turn into a clutz after losing weight? I mean stumble, drop stuff more often,...like I am learning to walk again lol.

I've had many "klutz" moments. I've come to think that my center of balance is so different that my "mind's eyes" can't keep up with my weight loss.

Does that make any sense? That's the only explanation that I have. My body is so used to having a balance a large chunk of ---well ME, that now that I have less mass, I'm just flinging myself around as if I still had it. But, being lighter I am overcompensating and becoming clumsy and unbalanced (physically---well ok, maybe a wee bit mentally as well, but that's a story for a different day :) )

Anyway, that is my theory and I'm sticking with it! :)

Man I wonder if there is something to that. It makes sense, the whole balance being off thing,

I'm 12 days out and I've been a complete klutz and forgetful. And, no, I'm not normally clumsy. What is it?!

Klutzy and memory is likely the hormone imbalance. Hormones released as the fat burns off. It should rebalance shortly.

Had the same issue. Broke a toe early on and other minor mishaps. When I hiked I always felt like I was going to fall on my face. It all just felt "off". I would say it got better around month 10.

This is a keen observation actually. Not only is our balance somewhat "off" because of the rapid weight loss, but I've also noticed that it doesn't take as much effort to do somethings as before. As an example, went to run up the stairs here at work the other day. I meant to jump every other step, but the first leap took me up almost three! Looked like a fool trying to go up stairs that I have used for almost 20 years.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
