Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get this prep down? I have to drink a 10oz bottle of grape magnesium citrate. I have the most responsive gag reflex there is. I'm more scared for this prep that surgery!

hold your nose while you drink it, that actually does help because it greatly reduces your ability to taste if you can't smell it. Also I don't know if you're supposed to drink it cold or room temp but cold almost always goes down smoother and has a less noticeable texture. I didn't have to do the prep, thankfully, but I totally feel your pain with the super responsive gag reflex! Hang in there and chug that sh*t! :P

I used a straw and put it as far back in my mouth as I could. About 10 minutes after I did feel nauseated so you might drink half then take a short break then drink the rest, I think I felt nauseated because I chugged it. Oh yeah and put it in the refrigerator.

The prep wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I guzzled 2/3 of the bottle and another 1/3 right after. Got a drink of Water and took some deep breaths. It really wasn't that bad after all.

@@Autumn Riley Arnold some surgeons require their post-op patients to drink a bowel preparation solution before surgery. I didn't need to, thankfully, as I've heard they are pretty nasty! Thick and gross tasting. Erghh.

@@JanaJ how is everything going? How are you feeling? :)

what if you add a little hot sauce to it for some flavouring, I find Hot Sauce makes everything taste better.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
