Update: this is day 5 of liquid diet.

I have lost 6 pounds since starting the Optifast shakes.

I turn 30 on April 21. Highest 227lbs. Current: 210lbs. Height 5'4".

My surgery is tomorrow morning at 830am. I have to be at the hospital at 6:30am. Eep. I'm nervous but ready to join the post op folks.

Note: Bikini pic was 10 years ago after I had lost 60 pounds without weight loss surgery. Obviously, I didn't maintain the loss. My biggest fear is failing at this journey.

I've battled with weight my entire life. I was a size 16 when I graduated high school. My father used to oink at me as a kid. He was a verbally abusive drunk. When I was 18, I got a job as a hostess at a really busy restaurant. I was working double shifts and going to college. I lost 60 pounds. The bikini picture I posted was me at 135. That was 10 years ago. Because I had self image problems, I didn't know how to handle male attention. I was raped at 19. I used food to cope. I remember falling to my knees asking God to show me what a real relationship looked like. I met my spouse shortly after that, was married, and had my first baby at 21. Fast forward 8 years. We have three children and my weight has gone up and down. I was never taught about food as a child. We were fed fast food and carbs. After my third, I was 180. My spouse got a promotion and starting traveling for business. He was gone two weeks (if not more) a month. I was home, working full time at a dental office, hauling around a breast pump for 10 months pumping every 4 hours, and taking care of our infant, 2 year old and 5 year old. That was so hard. I went through severe PPD. I gained 40 pounds in a year. I had no one to help me. I did it alone. my depression was so bad that on March 31 2015, I tried to kill myself. Thankfully, it wasn't my time. I got help and went to weekly therapy from April to October. My drunk dad has been sober for 10 years. He is doing amazing. My husband stopped traveling as much. My job has been wonderful. I joined a fantastic church group who will be there for surgery day. My husband has to travel 3 days after my surgery. I've been through a lot of emotional healing, I'm ready to do this for me.

I turn 30 April 21. Highest 227. I am 5'4". I have gastric sleeve surgery set for next Thursday April 7.

If your interested, I'll tell you how it goes.

I definitely want to know how it goes. God bless you! My prayers are with you!

Good luck Mom/3minions. I wish I would have had surgery at 30, my life would have been drastically more healthy. You will be so much more energetic, and active. I'd like to say happier, but that is hard to predict. I am finally getting sleeved at the age of 55. In 2 weeks, I'll b starting my journey. You will do wonderfully, and I wish you all the luck in the world.

Good luck @@mmell!

My dad was in town this weekend. He said when he looks at my sister he still pictures her as a size 2. When he looks at me all he can see is that I'm fat. FYI my sister is about 30 pounds above a normal weight for her height. See what I grew up hearing.

Anyone else go through this?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
