Gastric sleeve/menstrual cycle

Recommended Posts

I would also be interested to know. I am pre-op but also have PCOS and wondering how long it takes to hopefully have some improvements without medication.

How soon after gastric sleeve did you notice an improvement in your menstrual cycle ? I have pcos and had gastric sleeve 6 weeks ago.

I have had my sleeve yet.... but when i had my band... my cycles Improved at around the 2 month mark.

Went from having one period a year to completely reversing my PCOS and insulin resistance. Since then... my period comes like clockwork.

Hang in there... the stress of surgery mucks up your cycle.... it will improve when your body wants it to...

My sleeve surgery was such a shock to my system that I went into early menopause at 38 years old. I was hoping the surgery would lead to an opportunity to get pregnant and carry a child to full term, however, it seems like its not in the cards for me. I've decided to focus on the positive aspects of what the surgery has done for me and take advantage of my new healthy life.

I also have PCOS and I'm now 5 months out from the Sleeve. I went from September till February without a period, which isn't totally abnormal for me. Then it came like normal in March. Nothing so far this month. My doctor recently reduced my Metformin dose since my blood sugar is better than before surgery. My endocrinologist just advised me to be patient because my body is still adjusting to everything.

Oh gosh, that terrifies me. I'm having this surgery in order to lose weight so I can have kids (married 16 years now, PCOS is evil), if I went into menopause I think I would just break. :(

My period seems like it's all over the place. My surgery was 2/23 & I got my period 3/1-3/18 & then it came on again on 3/30-4/4 & came on again 4/29-5/1. I have no idea what's going on.

I've been charting my cycles for a couple years or so now, and while I've always been rather irregular, I've had my own "normal" pattern I could identify. I'm very curious to see what drastic weight loss does to my cycle and when things level out to a new "normal" for me.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
