The case of the missing hairs...

Recommended Posts

Ok, so I started losing hair 3 months post op. I was ok with that, as I had been forewarned plenty about that happening. It started to get very thin,so on suggestions from my hairdresser, we cut it. I have naturally curly hair. Immediately, I knew it was a mistake! It was so frizzy!!! It doesn't even curl anymore! And to top it off.., I've now developed alopecia of the eyebrows!! Doc is waiting on labwork to come in, but her suspicions are zinc deficiency? I do take a multi, Calcium and 10,000mcg of Biotin daily. Please vets, tell me it'll get better!! I can deal with thinning, frizzy hair but now no eyebrows??? I just woke up and they were gone?

Hmm, never heard of that before. Hopefully it's just a side effect from the hormones. If not have them check your thyroid too. Do you already fill your brows in with a pencil or powder?

Edited to add: My hair loss lasted about 3 months. My new growth is still not the same length as my hair I didn't lose.

Yes, I do fill them in as I have very light hair and barely there eyebrows to begin with. I am looking into microblading. It looks promising but somewhat expensive. I am hoping things will get back to normal as time passes, but if at my 1 yr surgiversary my eyebrows are still missing... I will have some even if tattooing is my only option!

I will mention my thyroid to her when I see her, thanks. And congrats on the new baby hairs!!

I read at 5 months post op your body goes into shock and that's why you lose hair. My hair is still baby fine. It never came back like it was. I had to stop taking Biotin. I was growing hair on my face and pretty much everywhere! I hope you find answers. I'm 5 1/2 years post op.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
