Anyone use Tx Bariatrics in Rockwall?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. I am just starting my journey and have my first consultation on April 11th with Dr Stephens at Tx Bariatrics. I am really excited and just wondered if anyone else has used that clinic. Also I have BCBS ppo through my husband's job (KCS railroad) and I have worked with my primary for 1 yr already trying to loose weight. Anyone know what the weight time usually is between consultation & surgery?

I am actually in Wylie and I am using Kim Bariatrics in Frisco. However I have heard great things about TX Bariatrics.. But with my insurance I am limited. I am currently 1 month in to my 6 month physician supervised diet.

I haven't used this forum in forever. But wanted to check in. I ended up having my VSG surgery on 11/21/16 I was 298.6 at my first consult 4/11/16, 265.8 the morning of surgery and as of today 3 days from being 9 months post op I'm at 175!! I'm in a size 12 pant from a 24W and in either a women's L shirt or juniors XL down from a 3X! I am off all my BP meds, have tons more energy and just overall really happy I had my surgery. My new tool has been amazing.

I'm seeing Dr. Colleen Kennedy in Dallas. A friend referred me to her and can't say enough wonderful things about her. I'm glad that she accepts my insurance.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
