I'm in the same boat right now. Just a little over 5 months out and I am completely stuck. I've only lost 3 pounds in the past 5 weeks. I know I'm doing everything right so it is really frustrating. I'm not supposed to see my surgeon until 9 mos out, but I think I may go see him at 6 months if things don't change. I'm not going to hit my 6 month goal he set at this rate, so I think it is justified. It is really depressing me. I'm at a weight that I have not been able to get past for the past 30 years. I'm going to be really disappointed if this surgery was for nothing and I'm still where I always have been able to get on my own.

Are you eating enough, drinking Water, exercising, etc.? I'm also 5 months post-op and I was kind of in a stall before I went on vacation earlier this month. I gained 2 pounds away from home, but went back on my "program" when I got back. That week after, I dropped almost 5 pounds and I've lost another pound this week. I'm a slow loser to begin with, averaging 5 pounds a month the last two months anyway. Maybe if you up your calories for a few days and then go back down, it will shock something? Or increase the intensity of your exercise for a week and then go back? I've learned the last 5 months that stalls are normal and nothing to worry over. It's just your body readjusting and you are still probably losing inches.

I'm not loosing inches either. I get over 100g of Protein a day and get at least 80 oz of Water per day. I work out 2 hours every day and now have started adding a third hour of weights on three days a week. I do HIIT type work on the treadmill running for one minute and walking for 4 minutes for 65 minutes daily and then do a combat class for an hour. I have tried increasing my calories and that is not working either. I'm not building muscle yet so I know that is not the issue. I tried increasing my calories for one day by 500 and I ended up gaining 2 pounds. My Doc's NUT is terrible so I'm not to anxious to go see her. Just really frustrating. I still have 60 pounds to loose to reach my personal goal.

I am in the exact same boat. Weight just flew off of me after my surgery in Aug. '15. The scales just kept going down. Until about a month or so ago. I have been on the EXACT same weight for at least two months. I suppose I can be thankful that I am not going up, but am really frustrated and need to figure out how to get the scale moving again. I've starting exercising every day, but it's not helping. I guess it's time to break down and see the nutritionist. I hate tracking my food, and I know she's going to ask for my food list. That's the only reason I haven't gone sooner. I'm finding that while this surgery is a great tool... there is still a LOT of work you need to do in order to be successful.

Are you still following your program?

Tracking your food?

Getting in ALL of your Protein and fluids every day?

Avoiding starches and added sugars?

Taking your Vitamins and supplements as directed?

Exercising?

Without more information it is hard to help you.

Embrace the Stall!

@@kaitlynm How many calories are you eating each day. You said you tried increasing them by 500 ONE day and "gained" 3 pounds. Well it takes 10,500 calories to actually gain 3 pounds of fat, so I know it wasn't the calorie increase. It was likely sodium or carbs from whatever the source of that 500 calories was, causing you to retain Water.

Anyway, it sounds like you are working out a lot. In which case you really really really do need to make sure you are getting enough calories. It's very easy to tip your body into self-preservation mode if you aren't eating enough calories to sustain your level of exercise. I wasn't even doing as much exercise as it sounds like you are and found I needed to eat 1200-1400 calories a day in my weight loss phase. Now that I'm maintaining and training for a half marathon, I have to eat 2200-2400.

Same thing happened to me! Weight practically flew off the first few months then it slowed to a crawl. Stalls are a normal and healthy part of weight loss. Just hang in there, make sure you're sticking to your plan, and it will eventually kick back up!

I'm eating about 1000 calories per day which according to the bariatric coordinator is where I should be with my exercise level. She runs the support group I belong to and works closely with the Dr. My Doc recommends 800 calories per day if you are exercising for an hour 5 days a week. She said I should go to 1000 to cover the extra hour. Honestly I don't burn that many calories during the weight class so I don't think I need to increase for that. I know about the 3500 calories equaling a pound but that has never been the case for me. I have thyroid issues , previous battles with anorexia, and PCOS so that goes out the window. I wish it worked for me, I think I would weigh under 100 if it was true. My resting heartbeat is around 48 - 50 for the day, so I think my metabolism is just shot. It took me over a week to loose the 3 pound gain, so I don't think it is Water retention. Just so frustrating.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
