Pureed question - spices/salsa?

Recommended Posts

So I'm getting pretty pumped to start the pureed stage. I've been all over pinterest looking for ideas..(yes I found eggface). I was thinking of making refried Beans with maybe some pureed turkey meat with taco seasoning, cheese....But what about salsa? Have any of you tried a little bit spicy food and had issues? I wouldn't go full blown habenero but a little bit of heat would be nice.

Try it and see. Some people have issues with spice but others don't. Fortunately, I haven't had any problems with spices or heat.

Spices are the variety of life. :)

I introduced very spicy (hot) food slowly in intensity to see how they affect my stomach.

I never had any issues.

Introduce very spicy foods slowly up to the point you "feel the burn" that you enjoy and let your stomach be the judge.

I am so jealous! I'm on my 2 week preop diet and already fantasizing about the pureed stage and what I will have first! Refried Beans is #1 on the list. I have been craving them like crazy and Mexican food is my favorite anyways. So...your idea sounds DELISH!

@@joejoe2461 My doc said to not use rice or Pasta during the puree stage.... might want to check with your nutritionist or dr about puree lasagna... It sounds AWESOME but I think if you puree Pasta it also might turn to paste.

Bought a food processor. Here's my first attempt... I only ate 5 bites and I was full. What we have here is ground turkey taco meat, fat free refried Beans with green chili. Sargento reduced fat 4 cheese Mexican, and a tablespoon or 2 of some fire roasted salsa. I have never had ground turkey but I have to say it was the best thing I've had in a while. Feeling good. Tons of leftovers. I have a feeling I will be freezing lots of food. Got over 90 grams of Protein today...which is the most I've gotten. I'm thinking pureed isn't so bad. Even though I didn't Water down the meat. I couldn't do that lol post-287271-14585319808766_thumb.jpg post-287271-14585320210897_thumb.jpg

One of my first pureed meals was chicken chili. And I added srirachia to that. spices had/have no appreciable effect on me. Other than firetongue of course.

I used lo salt V8 and put hot sauce in it. Never had any issues with spicy /hot foods.

A favorite was pureed chicken breast, fat free plain greek yogurt, a little Peanut Butter, curry powder, and sriracha--"Bariatric Thai Chicken Satay"

I may not eat much, but it sure tastes good!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
