I didn't know I had them until I after I lost the weight. I have a patch on my upper, inner right thigh. I had some spider veins on my lower calves but it's weird how I didn't know I had varicose veins until the weight was gone. Anyone else have the same experience?

Yep! Had no idea! I have one on each thigh, one that goes all the way to the back of my knee. They are only really noticeable if you look hard, but I still have some weight to lose. So I'm sure when I'm closer to goal they will be very visible! :-(

I think the extra padding was hiding them. I know being overweight increases the chances of having them (and genetics).

My mother used to have them and i was excited that i never did -- until i lost the weight and they appeared from where they were hidden. They are huge and bulging and while they don't hurt, they are not cute at all. i have an appt Monday to figure out what i can do with them.

Hi Elizabeth, varicose veins run in my family :( my dad had them removed but his surgeon informed us that they can come back. Weight, genetics, and standing/sitting a lot can exacerbate varicose veins. I have them now and I try and wear compression stockings as often as I can. Hopefully after VSG It'll alleviate some of my issues.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
