Exercise Challenge! Go for the Gold!

The "clutter" analogy sounds like Fly Lady philosophy -- do you know of her, Boo? If not, you might check it out. I think it's flylady.com.

I'm so, so sorry about your flight and thankful you're ok. I'm not much help to talk about it -- my fear of flying is too great. I'm so glad you're ok.

My legs are a little better today (knock on wood). Trying to take it easy. NO IDEA when I can return to exercise. Probably a month from now. Ugh.

Oh, dear! I'm so sorry about the edema. You bounced back so quickly last time. Actually, won't this rest time be better for your breasts, anyway? Julie, in the pictures you posted your stomach is unreal!!

I'll check out flylady.

Julie - just saw your latest pics on you PS thread.........you are so TINY! Your bod is so pretty! So sorry you have to still "fuss" with the drainage problems...............soon, I hope this will all be behind you and you will heal and forget all about the pain, drains and "head" aches involved. I know you are anxious to get "movin" again...........soon.

Boo.........what a fright that flight sounds. I try not to think while on flights...............I get involved in a good book and space out..............I guess most of us would rather be on the ground.

Dawn, I still marvel at the thought of you running in that cold weather...............Alan and I walked to Breakfast this morning in the rain (40ish degs) and I was so proud of us for doing it!

I've had a great week to date with exercise............something every day since last Thurs..............my resolution to myself.......6 days a week of at least an hour.........so far only arobic............eventually I need to add in some strength training again...............I'll give myself a couple of weeks to get back into the swing of things and then do my marathon couple of days at the gym.

Our kids are back from my daughter-in-laws father's funeral and life is getting back to "normal" (we're only responsible for ourselves).............except my daughter Amy's doggie Wriggly passed away on Sat............she and the kids are so sad...............she was a sweet 13 year old Cavalier King Charles Spaniel that Alan and I gave their family when they moved into their first new house.

I'm glad you're having such a good exercise week, Betty. That's great. Keep up the good work. You have to do all my exercise for me too, since I can't.

I'm home in bed today. Just can't face the world right now. Too many needles. (I'll come out of this funk soon, promise).

Great run last night...but didn't reach my goal. I wanted to run 10, but was with a friend that got a bad blister, and had to stop. While I was out trying to finish my run I happened upon a drug deal, got spooked, and ran like the wind home.

I WILL meet the 10-mile mark, right?!!!

Well, made 5 days this week - on to 6! Down a lb.............feel like I did when I started this (not in a good place in my head)..................will I ever learn? Going to update my weight on the slider............not a pretty sight.

I think I might be too tight again, but am not going for a de-fill, last time it was a disaster................going to try and work with this fill - stay away from liquids and mushies and get back to the Protein, veggies, fruit (the stuff that works!).

Betty,

I'd bet you're just not used to the restriction and if you get back to very basics (chewing a bunch, little tiny bites, waiting between the first 3 bites, eatin 1/2-1 cup only at a time) you'll like your fill level. Possible?

I'm going back to "old faithful" tomorrow -- counting calories and eating 900 of them/day. Time to be done with all this bullsh!t for me. I've not gained, but I'm making NO effort.

I broke doctor's orders and tried to go for a run this morning. I went out for my 6 mile loop and 3 into it, my thighs were noticeably swelling, so I cut it short and came home, frustrated. I feel 100% -- why won't my thighs cooperate!!!

Boo, scary about the drug deal - wow! Glad you moved along safely....Yes, you'll make your 10 miles, without a doubt....

Yes, Julie - you are so right..........I'm trying to push too much food...............have to go back to basics. My problems have stemed from trying to eat too fast, too much of the things I'm supposed to be going with...........and having a hard time with it...........then reverting to softs that I can get down. Relearn time! I also am bodybugging and keeping track of calories.....me too 800-900 calories of Protein, veggies, fruit. It's what worked before (darn it)...........can't ever go back to the other life...........when am I going to learn?

2 of my 6 days down for the week! After tomorrow we're supposed to have a dry week here in the NW! It's been a very wet winter (more so than usual)...............so I plan on getting out and walking along with my gym visits.

Julie - please take it easy..............know how much you're wanting to move............go slow. Do you still have to drain fluid................is it any better?

Boo..........you'll make your 10 miles................go Boo......watch out for those druggies.............how scary!

I did an hour on the elliptical this morning and felt great -- no swelling from it. Might have to live with that for a few more weeks until the seromas are completely gone. For the moment, they're improving, but still there. Draining every 3 days now though instead of every day, so that's easier to deal with....

Betty, keep up the exercise and the food will get better in tandem, you know?

I need a fill. I'm going in the second week in Feb and I can make it till then, but I ate 3 pieces of pizza (like full on NY pizzeria pizza) with no problems whatsoever on Sunday. Weight's still hanging tight, so no panic, but that's no good.

Hey, Betty, I've been thinking the same thing...got to get back to Portion Control and resting between bites.

There is not much restriction here (1.4 cc) so I have had to really work with my head, heart, stomach, and move!

Julie, PLEASE don't go against orders. It must be frustrating, but you have a lifetime to run. An hour on the eliptical is sometimes what I do on a regular day..haha! Go, Wonder Woman!

Dawn, how cold are you? I wore shorts today to walk to the post office, and I still have excuses!!

Putting on my shoes right now!! I'll check in later.

How cold am I... -33 today, so that might give you a hint. I have been having a great week and am hoping the scales will give me good numbers on Friday. In 2 weeks I see my surgeon (first time in 1.5 years). Just a follow up. I am hoping not to have a fill, but will if can't budge the scales. I know it is not the best solution for me... I need fuel to run in this cold!!!

How is everyone else.

I bought a new coat... LLbean size medium!!!! Yeah!!!!

take care all of you and think of me running hills tomorrow at 6a.m. in the cold and dark!!

OH MY GOSH................Dawn............it's 30 here this morning and I'm feeling sorry for myself......................even tho today is my day off.........Mah Jongg with the girls today......sit, eat and play........................but I'm good with the eat part...........this has been a good 2nd week............onward back to my "almost normal weight"! DAWN you are an amazing lady - you're the only one of us regulars of this board that I have not met face to face..................we do have to plan a week/week-end at a fitness spa (for real) or Betty's health spa soon......(for the whole exercise gang)............this spring/summer??????

Did walk (4 of 6) to Breakfast yesterday on frozen streets - did a bit of slipping and sliding, but no casualties!

Drumroll, please......

On Monday I finally ran....

10 MILES!!!!

Tied my shoes, stepped out with my Forerunner, and at mile two decided, "This is it! I'm gonna just do it." So, with that decided, I got into a slower pace, patient frame of mind, and settled in for the long haul. The first 4-5 miles were uphill. As soon as the Forerunner registered 5 miles, I turned back for home, retracing my steps.

On a couple of steep places I walked, but for the most part I shuffled along with an average pace of 11:30/mile. Not great, but hey,

I DID IT!!!!

Tuesday morning came and it was very difficult to get up and walk around. You get sore the day after?????? That is a new one!

I'm going out tonight, but no repeat!

Well, today's the day I was medically released to run (not sure exactly how the seromas alter that, but, anyway) and it was SO GLORIOUS!!!! I did 4 easy miles on the treadmill (sorry Dawn, even 25 degrees is too darn cold for me!!). New fancy treadmills at my gym -- love them! They have pictures you can choose from on an LCD panel, like if you want to run around a track, etc. I really like the track concept. We have no good tracks in NYC (some exist but really small -- no 1/4 mile "normal" tracks), so to run on a tread and watch the little dot go around a track is actually really neat. It's good for speed training and I didn't hate it, despite really hating running indoors.

So YAY!! We're all on track with exercise!!

I'm still kinda out of control with the food and looking forward to a fill, but at least the exercise is back on track.

xoxoxoxox!

WAY TO GO BOO ON YOUR 10 MILES!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
