Is anyone here on their 6 month supervised diet?

Recommended Posts

Hello all, I'm new here. I started my journey in January and just finished my second appointment of 6 a few days ago. This process is going so slow for me and I feel so anxious knowing that I could be doing all this waiting and get denied. All this waiting is giving me time to conjure up all the ways I can be denied. At the surgeons office my bmi was like 41, I have no comorbities. I also have very slight hypothyroidism and I worry I may be denied because of it because I have to do a tsh test. I am on medication for it so it should be good. Just need some buddies in the same position as me :). Or people who've been through it. Btw I'm trying to get the sleeve done.

I've had 3 appointments of my 6 months period, 3 to go. At first, I was annoyed I had to do 6 months instead of 3. Once I made my mind up, I wanted the surgery then dang it! But now honestly, I'm somewhat glad I have the 6 months. Gives me a chance to get mentally ready for the completely different lifestyle. I'm gradually changing my eating habits with the help of the nutritionist, starting very slowly and gradually to increase physical activity and working on my issues around my emotional eating/food addiction (although still struggling to find an appropriate therapist). I figure in the long run a year or two from now, that extra 3 months waiting before surgery won't have mattered except that maybe it gave me the chance to better set myself up for success long term. Hang in there! The time will go by faster than you think.

Yes I'm trying to find positivity in in, I've been overweight my whole life and six months more isn't gonna be the end of the world. I'm just such and over thinker I'm gonna be anxious till I finally have an approval :(

My insurance appt was today, the appt with the dr is 3/8, and my appt with the dietician is on 3/22. Still have a lot of questions, so hoping the meeting with the dr answers most/all of them.

Oh and I'm needing to get fasting blood work done by 3/10

My coordinator doesn't want me to do the blood test till the end of my 6 months because something to the effect that the insurance only accepts them for 1 month or so and if they're older than they will make me redo them. Insurance can be such a pain and I'm super worried about them finding something silly to deny me over.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
