SIPS / SADI-S LOOP DS SUPPORT

Recommended Posts

Every policy, no matter the insurance company, is different. As Evenya said, it's usually a rider that an employer can choose to get or not. Almost every individual plan you can purchase excludes weight loss surgery. Medicare policies do cover bariatric surgery but many state Medicaid policies don't. That's why it is imperative to contact your insurance company directly & ask them, giving them your policy number so they can look up the specifics. Even if they say it is covered, ask them to send you or give you web links to their specific coverage criteria. The criteria will address what BMI & what co-morbidities qualify. It will also, usually, say what you need as far as proof of previous weight loss attempts & pre-surgery diet or nutritional counseling.

Wow awesome! Yes Smith and his team are amazing!! Love leah! I started at 287lbs, surgery 2/15/16 ... I am currently 193lbs.. I've had great results and no regrets! I'm so excited for you!! Such a huge step towards a healthy lifestyle! If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to ask!

That is awesome! I had the SIPS surgery on 4/14/2016 and 294lbs. I am now currently 225lbs. And so far...Just like you I've had great results and no complications and ABSOLUTELY no regrets. The best thing I ever did for myself. So glad to hear a fellow wls person that has gone through the same thing I have.

I have had a great experience! I had mine done on 6/8/15. No problems at all. Like everyone else, Vitamins, Vitamins, vitamins. However, all bariatric surgeries require that. Very pleased and have lost 175lbs.

Hi can you tell me what nutrients you count and what vitamins you take each day and how many?

I went for my final GI clearance today and although everything came back "clean", the gastroenterologist suggested I have an endoscopy just to take a peak at everything to make sure that all looked good. Has anyone else done this or been asked to do this? He said it was my choice but that he highly recommended going in and checking everything out before anything was "altered".

Thought it was time to chime in. 2 years out from SIps with Enoch in Cary NC. All good, diabetes gone, blood work perfect. Just saw him yesterday and we discussed what NC BC/BS is doing and it's not good. More hoops to jump thru, and yes....they consider sips to be experimental and are not covering it. Enoch has made some adjustments to the procedure.

I wish you luck. It's the best thing I ever did and Enoch is awesome.

I am 2 weeks out from DS surgery. I am having this major cramps in my lower abdomen and if fees like I need to have a bowl movement all the time. I called the doctor and they told me this would go away in a couple weeks. Has anyone else had this issue or any advice?

Hi can you please share your Vitamin regimen and Protein intake daily? Any idea how long your common channel is?

Thank you and continued success!

I take 2 Calcium 600 mg daily, 2 multi Vitamin Bariatric Advantage. I also get a monthly B 12 shot. That's it. I try to eat a lot of Protein. I don't count anymore. I have blood work every 6 months and the protein is always good. Mostly I eat protein first and then whatever. When I eat something not good for me the worst result is gas or diarrhea. No weight gain. I drink Water all day and swim for exercise.

Just had the SIPS last month, I was already sleeved but needed my gallbladder out and since I was there...SIPS. 3 weeks post op, down 20lbs. Still on pureed diet. I have a longer common channel, but poo is still WAY stinky and loose. Has anyone managed to have solid poos again?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
