20 months out exhausted

Recommended Posts

Hello, sorry this is going to be long. I hope someone will have advice.

I had Rny in July of 2014. Since surgery I have been extremely exhausted. I have had my blood work done. Many times. My hands and feet go numb. I have a vibration in my left foot that feels like I am stepping on a cell phone on vibrate.

Sometimes I get dizzy even when sitting. And my feet will sometimes just not work. It's all mostly in my left foot. Sometimes I have a hard time lifting it and it feels like it's not there. I also get body tremors. Mostly my hands. Sometimes my whole body.

They have tested my bloodwork, did a CT scan looking for ms or brain cancer. They have done an emg. I have seen a neurologist whom looks at me like I'm insane.

I am about 10 pounds under my goal weight. And I either keep losing or stay where I am at.

My bariatric program has high turnover for all their staff from Dr's to secretaries so I have been doing all my follow up with my primary Dr.

I take a multi Vitamin, Calcium with Vitamin D, Biotin, fish oil, B12, and Iron ( iron every other day so I don't get constipated) potassium and magnesium.

I was doing them all twice a day but my neurologist took me off of them all to see if I was having a reaction. I added them back in once a day myself because i started getting horrible migranes.

I juse added b complex and a vitimin d pill to see of that would help. So far it helped with body tremors but my hands still shake and I still have all other symptoms.

I'm tired of seeing Dr's. I just want to feel half way normal.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Sorry it's so long.

Hope they can find out what is wrong.

I had same issue about 3 years ago, and Dr. said they could not find anything, but I went from full activity, to barely having ability to get up and go to work each day. Due to my assistance, the Dr. did more testing and found I was positive for Barre Syndrome (Basically Adult Mono).

There was no real cure for it but improved diet and slow recovery of my immune system.

it took about a year for me to recover, but at least the severe tiredness went away.

Thank you for the reply. I am desperate. I will mention this to my Dr. I am afraid I am going to end up losing my job one day.

Do you take your blood pressure at home when things happen? Fish oil can raise your be. It's hard at times to diagnose things. I had a fever once that lasted 6 months or so. I had every test my doctor could think of and he couldn't find the cause. Start keeping a log of vitals signs, bp, pulse, temp and blood sugar if you have a glucose monitor. Make notations when the symptoms appear. What were u doing, eating etc. perhaps you can find the missing link. I wish you well

Fainting, tremors and weakness can be signs of low blood sugar. Several individuals that underwent RNY gastric bypass surgery experience a type of hypoglycemia called "Reactive Hypoglycemia". Here is one link about this condition but you can search for other links on the internet. https://www.ridgeviewmedical.org/services/bariatric-weight-loss/enewsletter-articles/reactive-hypoglycemia-postgastric-bypass/

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
