Primary physician not supportive

Recommended Posts

I have finished all my requirements; nutritionist appointments, psych evaluation, my surgeon's office calls says they have not receive the letter of support from primary. So, I've been calling every day, first they never received anything from the surgeon, now since they sent it again, I'm getting no call backs. The surgeon can not submit to insurance without it.

Any suggestions, does anyone know if I change doctors, if the new one would support it being a new patient.

Just hate to think I've gone through the whole process for nothing. It's very frustrating, the office staff at my primary are getting rude with me. Blahhhhh. Sorry had to vent

I would physically go up to the office and ask about the letter needed and why you have received any call backs.

As far as changing your PCP, it will depend on that doctor. He/she will definitely require a first doctor's appointment. You can tell him/her where you are in the process and he/she should be understanding, after viewing your records from your previous PCP. Or, maybe someone you know is going or has gone through this process with their PCP and change to that person, someone who is going to support you.

Had you discussed this with your PCP before at any time? Perhaps its time to make an appointment and take the form that they need to sign to the PCP and have them sign it in front of you and give it to you so you can take it or send it back to your surgeon. It could be something going on with the office staff, it might be the PCP doesn't support your decision, it could be a lot of other things. Try one more time with a face to face and then decide if you need to change PCPs. Have you liked this PCP prior to this?

I have discussed this with him numerous times, and up to this point he's been great. Up until now he's given no inclination that he would not be supportive

I've called a few other Drs and they require a physical for first visit with new patients each are not taking appointments until May. So I think I'm going to have to to mine in person to get the deal. I have no more requirements but his support paper.

This makes me think the delays might not be him.

Agreed. If your PCP has been supportive then perhaps your PCP is out of town, had a family emergency, etc.

Could be correct, just wish they'd tell me he's not in, last time I spoke to his nurse she did not mention he was out, maybe I'm just over thinking because I'm getting anxious and frustrated

You should go to his office and get whatever approval you need. Let him know all your other specialist has approved. Your BMI Doctor works a little different from mine. I couldn't even see him until my GP gave me a referral to see him. Good luck.

Set up an appointment a sap and have him complete the form while you are there.

I would go sit in the office and state that I need this letter and will patiently wait to get one or what time should I return to pick it up?

How annoying! Maybe it is the staff nit communicating the need. An apt where you can see him directly might be your best bet. Otherwise, do you have another dr you can ask? My endocrinologist wrote my letter.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
