1 week out and still in pain

Recommended Posts

This is my second day post op still in hospital and feeling very bad. Nausea is killing me. I throw up every 1-2 hours and still can't get anything to drink. I am very worried

I had my surgery on the 2nd and am still hurting, but do feel a little better. I was nauseated but they put something in my IV to sort it out, and now on day three while I still have some pain my drain came out today an I've been off IVs since mid yesterday. The drain coming out made me feel a bit better. Get your docs to give you anti-nausea stuff! I was really scared about throwing up because I was in a lot of pain and the thought of having to engage the muscles needed to throw up made me want to cry a little. Day two is pretty awful, day three will see some improvement.

I had my surgery on Tuesday, so this is my second day post op as well. I am still in the hospital, set to be sent home today. The first day was the worst for me but yesterday during the day wasn't much better. I was so nauseous and sick. I couldn't hold any liquids. I stopped using morphine and haven't thrown up since. That was definitely making it worse. I am still slightly uncomfortable but it's getting better. I slept on my side last night and it worked wonders!! Feeling much better

We're so alike! I did the leak test today and it's all good. I am set to go home too. I am feeling a little dizzy though, but much better than previous 2 days

Good luck going home and I hope you both continue to improve. I have to admit I'm kind of relieved I'm not going home yet, I feel better than I did but certainly wouldn't feel ready to fly etc.

Try mixing your pain meds with 2 oz Water. Mine made me so nauseous and when I added the water the nausea went away.

I am so sad to hear people are having such troubles. I hope and pray all those still so sick one week out start to feel better and things turn around for you all.

I had my 3 surgeries gallbladder, hernia and sleeve on Tuesday Jan 26th. This was the first surgeries I ever had. It took 2 hours and I was in recovery for 3 hour. I was very sick with pain on Tuesday and even Wednesday. I ate 1 Jello the whole 2 days I was there. I was given a nausea patch the night before surgery for behind my ear. I had 30 mg of dilaudid in recovery and for the rest of Tuesday and Wednesday. I had one incident of dry heaves. By Thursday I was feeling great and was able to go home. Have been able to get my 60 to 80 grams of Protein in each day since Friday. I know each person reacts differently but I was very pleased with my recovery and seriously doubt I will need the 4 to 6 weeks the dr told me to take. Tuesday I get to eat my first real food since Jan 24th an egg. I am not the least bit hungry and have no head hunger what so ever. I have lost 17 pounds since Jan 26th.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
