Weight loss at six weeks.. Why so little

Recommended Posts

Hello... The first four weeks I lost 40 plus pounds. In the last 10 days I've only lost roughly 5 pounds. Is this normal or is there something I should be concerned about?

The first 5 to 6 weeks I've lost between 40 to 45 lbs. I was stuck at 311 to 310 for a few, until I started walking in the treadmill. It helped me out.

I've been a little weak, I have had my period for about 6 weeks. Its driving me crazy, last week. I wasn't in the mood to eat much. liquids was my thing. Btwn Sat and Sunday, I've been able to hold down my good. I weigh myself on Thursday at 294 and today Monday I went back up at 297.

I had to stop the treadmill, I want to feel better and I went to my GYNO as well to rule out anything else.

I did have some solid food and maybe my sugar intake made my weight go up.

Are you getting enough Protein? That can hinder weight loss.

Also, remember that you are losing fat but gaining muscle, which weighs more. You really can't rely on the scale alone for progress.

Hope this helps!

Hi Jenni, thanks. I do try as my much Protein as I can. I do have to make some changes. I didn't think about my muscles and your right, I feel slimmer then before and my clothes are telling me other wise.

None of us lose weight at a constant or steady rate. We will have periods of rapid weight loss as well as periodic stalls.

Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process of losing weight. Most of us experience our first stall about three weeks after surgery.

Just follow your program.

Record your food.

Eat slowly and chew thoroughly.

Make sure you are getting in all of your Protein and fluids every day.

Take your Vitamins and supplements as directed.

Exercise when cleared.

Embrace the Stall!

I was thinking the same thing. The first month I lose 30 lbs. This month I lost 13 lbs. I think I expect too much. 43 lbs in two months is just amazing.

I know I'm not getting enough Protein and am thankful for this forum for pointing out how critical it is. Day 61 post surgery and I'm having Chike for Breakfast and yogurt for lunch with lots of Water tossed in between. Pondering dinner.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
