Chewable vitamin and dumping

Recommended Posts

So the I am 6 days post op and per my doctors orders I started taking a chewable Vitamin A few days ago. Each night almost immediately after I would eat it, I would get this sensation of feeling ill and would it would take about 30 minutes to go away. After the 3rd day I figured this was a small dumping session, but didn't know what it was from. So I checked the ingredients on my chewable multi-vit and the first ingredient is SUGAR. I am taking the Flintstones Complete chewable, but now I need to find another that does not have any sugar.

Does anyone know of alternatives? My doctors specifics are it must be chewable, it cannot be a Gummy and it must contain a full range of Vitamins and minerals.

Thanks for you help!

I use Centrum chewables but I can't remember now if I ever checked the Sugar level. They are orange flavored which I love!

At the present time I am using Kroger's Children's chewable Complete (which is suppose to be the equivalent for Flintstones Complete). It is cheaper than Flintstones but I find it has a chalkier tastes. It uses Aspartame as a sweetener, not sugar.

Hi!! I can tell you what my Dr/Clinic recommends; they advise you go with a high quality, bariatric specific complete line of Vitamins and minerals. Your Vitamin and mineral supplements are absolutely essential for the rest of your life. Not getting the proper amount and ratios of vitamins can cause serious and permanent damage to your nervous system and other organs.

Bariatric Advantage, Celebrate VITAMINS are just two top companies that specialize in bariatric science/nutrition. There are a few more out there that are also very good for bariatric supplements.< /p>

Please research carefully, and have your Nutritionist give you a print out of what you need specifically for each vitamin/mineral-if you don't already have them. Hope your issue gets better and I really hope you find and get on the best quality supplements to ensure you health and safety!!

Feel better ????, and take excellent care of yourself. After all, you didn't come this far to feel bad or not be healthy!!

My doctor advises I take bariatric specific vitamins and minerals as well. I use BariMelts brand because the Bariatric Advantage multiple was really too big to chew and I had to cut it up before I could eat it. BariMelts multiple tastes a whole lot better too and BariMelts are made so they are soft enough to just melt in your mouth but I chew them up. The BariMelts brand is a top company specializing in Bariatric nutrition. I was so glad I found them. I also use BariMelts Vitamin D, Calcium and B12.

Definitely go with a bariatric specific formula. I'm using optisource as it is a truly complete Multivitamin. It has all the Iron, Calcium, Vitamin C & d, folate, B12, etc. All in chewable tablets.

My de advises high quality bariatric Vitamins as well. Celebrate, Bariatric Advantage, etc. I take opurity by Unjury. I like it because it is one a day (most others are 2). When you use bariatric victims it covers it all. No extra Vitamin b needed. Only other vitamin you have to take is calcium citrate.< /p>

I was also told to take flintstones complete and I do, twice a day, without a problem.

I never have had that issue with Flintstones. I used to take the Kroger brand and they caused me to have super bad dry mouth, so now I splurge for the real thing.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
