Surprisingly drinking a lot but still pain. Do you have any discomfort still? Also do you miss chewing as much as I do lol

I'll chime in...I was 1/26. I'm doing well overall. First two days were ROUGH. Dealing with crazy hunger pains, so trying to figure that out. Wasn't expecting to feel so hungry :( I made my daughter a ham and cheese sandwich for lunch all I wanted to do was lick the ham and cheese, but I resisted, lol.

Same it's not really even hunger pains it's more a mental thing for me like all I do is crave things but can hardly get liquids down without a lot of discomfort

Mine definitely feel like hunger pains (though I'm told they're probably not). It's like that deep, loud, painful rumble you have after you haven't eaten all day. Strangely, it seems to happen more when I take a drink or bite of something. IDK, plan to talk to my surgeon about it. I haven't seemed to struggle with head hunger too much other than the ham & cheese episode.

How is everyone's pain?

My stomach is obviously still tender. I walked around the grocery store today and might have overdone it a touch. I am occasionally getting some dull chest pains right around where my stomach would be. Assume that is just part of the healing process.

Walking girl I'm in the same boat as you. A little pain in my chest once in a while and having a little hunger. I spoke with my nut today and she said that hunger is typical when you are still on liquid diet. Stomach still tender too but not bad.

I need to chime in here, too. Sleeved 1/26. I feel pressure?, gas like pains from around my sternum accompanied by gurgling noises. Not sure if I ever really feel hungry. Not sure if I know what full feels like either. I just keep forcing myself to sip Water, Premier Protein shakes, or broth two ounces at a time. I've never thrown up but get waves of feeling like I can't possibly put another thing into my mouth. (Full?) I also had a hiatal hernia repaired; not sure if that matters. Once or twice my husband cooked something and it smelled good, but usually I have no interest. I think the hardest part is just wondering if everything I am feeling is "normal". I love this site and the support, but if you read the complication stories it can scare you. My incision sites are still tender, especially when I walk. I guess I'm doing ok. Certainly could be much worse! Really and truly, everything I have experienced so far has been way better than I anticipated. Thanks for letting me ramble.

I also feel pressure there. I was able to force liquids down fine but now every time I take even the tiniest sip my chest/stomach hurts and I'm burping for a good minute finding it really hard to drink at all now

I think I felt that, too, once or twice. It seems to come in waves. For a while I can drink with no discomfort, then wham, pressure, gurgling, discomfort.

This, too, will pass! We will see the light at the end of the tunnel!

Ad5707 I get the same thing. Not every sip but occasionally get pain in chest or sometimes belly and then need to burp. My nut told me it is because we are still swollen and that it is normal.

mine was the 27th. my incision sites are not too bad now. just waiting on steri strips to come off. have to do blood thinner shots for 30 days so those sting a little and leave occasional little bruises :(

i find myself getting tired early evening and by 9pm i am so ready for bed. guess thats just my body healing. OH YEAH and the ITCHING! wow these things must be healing nice because wow o wow they itch.\

i am SO sick of liquids and i am struggling to get in liquid and Protein goals. just ready to chew something even though i am not hungry. some sips of liquid give me a lot of pressure but i am assuming that is just the swelling

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
