What's the LAST thing that you remember before going under the anesthesia and the FIRST thing that you remember waking up?

@@BellaS - on a serious note be sure you trust the people you have in the recovery room if your surgery team uses Versed (http://www.webmd.com/drugs/2/drug-16693/versed-oral/details). Its a good drug but it takes away your short term memory. I had soooo much fun with my ex-wife when she had some minor surgery...I had her call her mom three times because she would call and intimidatingly forget that she had called her mom, so I would reminder her again "she promised her mom she would call." There is a reason why this drug is very tightly regulated. You just don't want it to end up in the hands of a Bill Cosby.

I gave my mom my phone with strict instructions not to give it back to me until I was no longer loopy.

I do remember when they wheeled me into the OR how busy and well lit it was. (Not like you see on TV medical dramas.) My surgeon was even checking his phone off to the side.

The last thing I remember was the mask on my face and the anesthesiologist touched my shoulder and told me it was ok. I made it now I needed to go to sleep. The first thing I remember waking up was the pain and someone saying "she's waking up should I take it out now?" And then feeling something being pulled out of my mouth. I assume it was the breathing tube thing. Then they gave me pain meds and I went to sleep and woke up later in my room.

The last thing I remember is laying on the surgery table and saying, "Well I always wanted to see the inside of an OR!" as they placed the mask on my face. The next thing I remember clearly is being wheeled to my room from recovery.

Oh and in recovery I asked how my liver was (in reference to the preop diet). I don't even know if anyone was around when I asked. Lol

Last thing I remember is being cold. First thing I remember upon waking is the pain in my stomach from the incisions and the nausea. I couldn't open my eyes but I remember shaking my head back and forth fighting the nausea. My fault though, I didn't ask for something beforehand and I should have known from past experiences.

Last thing was anetheseoligist saying, "Here is some oxygen."

First thing was I thought oh it's over.

Last thing: it's kind of cold in here, I guess we will get started pretty soon

First thing: my shoulder hurts and I need to pee

Going in - how cold the room was and moving from one bed to the other and hoping they didn't groan from my weight.

Coming out - being told to stop rubbing my eyes, complaining my shoulder hurt and hearing a Code Blue over the loudspeaker and hoping it wasn't me.

I actually don't remember much for the first 8 hours after surgery. My husband said my blood pressure plummeted to 80/40 which caused alarms to go off and then I got mad about the BP machine and asked for a manual reading but their cuff was broken. My BP then went up because I was pissed they wouldn't do a manual check. The BP machine hurts and leaves super bad bruises on my arm because of my bleeding disorder.

Last thing was getting a shot that made me feel like I just had about 10 margaritas. When woke up I remember the doctor saying how good my liver was.

I remember the nurse saying they are going to give me beach juice. First thing I remember waking up and was told I had to keep that face mask thingie on because my oxygen was low.. I wanted to rip that thing off lol.

The last thing I really remember was scooting over onto the operating table and the anesthesiologist saying something.

The first thing I remember was trying to find the button on the bed to make it sit up more!

I remember everything from the OR room right up to the point they knocked me out. The bed was inflated and I was scooted over to the OR table, my arms and legs strapped down, a million blankets on me. Tons of electrodes attached to me. Lots of people bustling around. The OR bed being raised up so I felt a bit like I was being crucified with my arms and legs strapped down! ???????? Everyone being very nice to me and asking me questions to keep my calm (which wasn't necessary because whatever sedative they gave me was amazing and did the trick). Then them saying "Okay we're ready to go. Amy, I'm going to be putting you to sleep soon." Them bam! Out like a light.

I remember being woken up and gagging/choking on the breathing tube down my nose. Once they knew I was alive, they took it out (that felt weird). I remember telling them I felt nauseous two different times and them saying "I'm giving you medication for that but it's gonna happen because of the anesthesia." Luckily the medication worked. I remember my surgeon coming in briefly to tell me "everything went perfectly" and then waking up every 30mins or so and watching the people in the room bustle about. I don't remember getting to my hospital room though.

Anyway, I think anesthesia is pretty cool to experience as long as you're able to tolerate it well.

How freaking cold it was in there. Then, oh wow...I need to burp!
