Homemade Chicken Bone Broth over prepackaged?

Recommended Posts

Hi all.

I just made a huge amount of pure chicken bone broth for after my surgery. I asked my Dr. if this would be OK for the clear liquid post op and he said yes. This broth is not "clear". It is cloudy, like most Bone Broth, and it has been strained. I did this thinking I would reap more nutritional benefits over the cubes or prepackaged stuff we call "chicken stock". (which if you read the ingredients, oh my)

I've frozen them into aluminum cupcake tins, so that my mom or husband can easily grab one when I need to have a liquid.

Any opinions on this?

Homemade far surpasses store bought on every front

Homemade all the way. We make big pots of stock whenever the bag of stock makings in the freezer gets full, and we pressure can it. There are about 10 quarts in the pantry right now.

Thank you, didn't know about the interpretation of the word "clear" :D , or exactly how "clear" a liquid was supposed to be.

It sound delicious.

For those of us who don't cook, my NUT also suggested organic bone broth is a better alternative to the more common stock found at grocery stores because it has more Protein.

Sounds great! My mom made me some and froze it into ice cube trays for easy storage. Only thing was, I hardly used it. Turns out I really don't like to drink chicken broth! Stuck with Water and Protein shakes for about 48 hours then on to well whizzed Soups, (I was allowed full liquids immediately post op). I did use those broth cubes to cook with later.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
