How many days off work ?

Recommended Posts

I've been sleeping finally, not home even 24 hours yet ... my schedule is waaaay off. I didn't sleep well in the hospital. Just woke up again. It's 2:30pm here. Readjusting will take ME a while, lol.

At 66 I was shopping four days after surgery, slowly walking the mall. Never needed pain meds after surgery, once I left the hospital. I know I was afraid of how I would feel, but it was wonderful!!! Much better than anticipated.

I work on an orthopedic floor of a level one trauma hospital where there is super heavy lifting so my doctor said I would definitely have to be off work for six weeks. Got enough pto to cover it, so I'm going to take all six weeks happily.

I only needed a week off. (I wish I had taken longer because I commute from NJ to New York City... so that commute is what really took a toll on me...) but besides the commute I felt pretty okay at the office. I'm a receptionist so it's mostly desk work.

Walked a huge mall five days after the sleeve. No reason to lie in bed. Just felt great! Still cannot run lol!

I decided not to tell my employer that I am having surgery because I did not want to be subjected to judgement. I know that in time everyone will figure it out. I did not want the added stress prior to having the procedure done. I am going to take off 2 weeks

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
