so it has been a year and one month since my surgery and I have lost 140lbs but i still have 40 i want to lose. My problem is i don't know what to eat. At my year appointment he was told me how well i did and see you in a year. I have always struggled with what to eat now i really don't know. what are you all eating a year after your surgery? are you all still doing the same limitations on the carbs? I was suppose to only eat 25 net carbs a day.

My primary focus is reaching my Protein target every day.

I don't necessarily count carbs, but do choose lower carb options and avoid starches for the most part.

I still eat a lot of turkey, tuna, cheese, cottage cheese, yogurt, etc.

I would remain low carb until after you reach your goal. What you have been eating seems to be working, why change it? Maybe add in some new recipes for variety but yes, stick with low carb until goal.

I was thinking about that but this is my busy season at work and it's hard to get away. I still may do that. I'm just kind of over meat and eggs lol but it's a necessary evil lol (I'm on a fruit kick right now... apples to be exact)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
