What's the longest period of time you were "stalled" ?

This stall I'm having is approaching the 3 week point. I'm getting all my Protein in, all my Water & Vitamins & exercise. I do feel like my body is deflating & shrinking but I just wonder how long this stall can last. ????

8 long weeks. It was right around my one-year anniversary too. I stalled from October to December (my surgery was on 11/3/14).

Edited to add: I love your picture. Also, I notice inches coming off or skin tightening up during my extended stalls.

My name is Theresa. I am 5 months out. My last stall lasted about 7wks. I had thought my sleeve was deflated. Now, I have to be very careful..BOT on, but, the stalls are awful... Good luck

I am two years out. I have been stalled for over six months, but I am very close to goal. My health has continued to improve all along. Going into my third year, I am concentrating more on fitness instead of the scale and focusing on strength training. From month six to seven I stalled for four weeks. Apparently 1,000 calories will be maintenence for me. Overall, I can't complain.

mine usually last a couple of weeks (3-4). I am currently in one now and was hoping to make a goal of a 6 lb loss by 12/31...didn't happen. I also went up 2lbs! That was different for me, I usually just stall but the 2lbs is a new thing for me.

I have had numerous comments about the weight loss in last few days so I am going to try on my size 12 jeans.

NSVs are the best!

I have been about the same since Nov 21st

Dont stress the stalls...its your body adjusting

as long as you are exercising and eating right the weight will come off!

Stalls are a normal, natural, and necessary part of the process. Does it really matter how long it last of you are doing what you are supposed to be doing?

I think those who treat stalls as separate and apart from their progress rather than an integral part of it experience much too much anxiety.

Going back through my spreadsheet from my weight loss phase, it looks like the longest stall I had was 5 weeks at about 7 months post-op. To be fair though, that stall was at a weight I had been at for well over a year a couple of years back and I have read that your body has "set points" where it "remembers" having been at a specific weight for a long time and when you get to that weight, it tries to stay there for a while.

although I am only 2-months out, I have experienced I think 2-4 stalls.. my NUT said I should start to see them after week 6 but I saw them week 5.. long story short, I have seen them last as short as 2 days to as long 7 days.

during my stalls i change my habits, walk a bit more and I check the scale less...(sorry i am a scale checker) prior to surgery I cared not for a scale, post sleeve I like to see the progress both physically, mentally and by the numbers.

I'm in the dreaded 3rd week stall I think. It's been a few days since I've lost any weight. I'm upping my Protein and fluids...hopefully that will help!

I know, right. I read that post and I was like WTF?!?!?

:) it is in the mind of simpleton who was seeing number rapidly reduce themselves.. then suddenly stop... hence one could see it as a stall.. the numbers stopped moving as they once where.. the duration my not realistically meet the traditional sense of what one might call a stall, but to me it was

Thank you all for your responses.

I was sleeved 12/10, starting with a BMI of 40.2. I'm doing everything possible to be accountable. One thing that keeps me from tears, is the fact that I do continue to notice my body parts reducing in size. I have a love/hate relationship with that darn scale.????

I will take the advice to switch up my exercise routine & see if that helps. I want that euphoric feeling back of when I see that # on the scale move again. Thank you again everyone your support & suggestions are much appreciated.

Kind of hard to embrace the stall when it's been about 3 weeks and I'm only 5 weeks post op.

      Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

        I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

      I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
      I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
      Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

      Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
