Yes, I have CIGNA.

The denied coverage 2 weeks before the scheduled WLS procedure due to my not being on a medically supervised diet for at least 3 months and my PCP's not approving this surgery.

My doctor already approved the surgery and they were paying for my meeting with the hospital's dietician for almost 5 months at that point.

I spoke w/ the hospital, my PCP and CIGNA, we squared away everything.

If I ever need to have another procedure that involves more than just my PCP's approval, I will stay proactive with CIGNA to make sure they have all of the information on record and all of the "T's" crossed and "I's" dotted.

I have Cigna as well. Just starting my journey. My PCP gave me a referral to the surgeon, so I meet with him next Tuesday. It will be interesting to see what all they will require before I start!

Chair1311 what are your requirements that you still haven't gotten your surgery date?[/quote

Just time. That's all. It's taken a while to get all the appointments out of the way. But now we have scheduled the surgery for February 23rd!

@chair1311...what part of Florida do you live? My surgery can not be scheduled until after my insurance approves. I know that can not happen until May. Right now I feel like I am keeping busy with doctors appointments. I have not even done my first months weigh in with the supervise weight loss so I know I have long road ahead.

@@MrsRoboto I've gotten my appts all squared away. I was stressed because I kept getting different information and my surgeons office didn't make any of my appts, it was all up to me. Anyway, thanks for your input about the spacing of yours; makes me even more confident that I'm on the right track.

This my first post. I figure it's time to jump in....

I have Cigna too. I am waiting on approval. Hopefully in just a couple days. My surgeon told me the last appointment must be great than 90 days from the first visit. That is most important.

I have some problems. My PCP refused to medically clear me because I wasn't "that overweight". BMI 40, arthritis in both knees, diabetes, high bp. I just went to another doctor and got the clearance. Nutritionist and psychologist were easy to get done. Now I wait....

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
