Well I met with my surgeon and nutritionist yesterday. I've gotta do 3 months of visits and surgery will be in September. I done a lot of research and went to the visit with the intent of going with the RNY, but after discussing with my Dr, we agreed on the sleeve. Next appt is the 6/14 and Psych Evaluation on 6/16.

That's great, what made you decide to do the sleeve instead?

@@Michilingi i smoke and he told me that if I got the RNY, I would develop ulcers. I quit smoking 2 years ago but started back again in Dec. I could quit again, but who knows if I'd start again. To be on the safe side, I'm going with the sleeve. @@KristenLe that's great!! We should definitely keep in touch!

I'm hoping that I will be having my surgery around the same time, since I only have to do 2 nutrit ion appointments... I'll keep you all posted to my date!

I'm at the point where I've cleared the psych eval, I have probably one more dietician appointment. I've lost like 30 lbs since I switched my diet to the bariatric style one. I'm hoping to have surgery in July

That's fine. I don't post a lot either, I'm always reading myself. What is the insurance mandated diet?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
