Hello everyone my name is Brianna. I'm 20 years old and 277 pounds. I started a new job at a hospital as a patient care assistant where I take care of patients that have had surgery and one being the Lap Band surgery. Since I have been working there this memory of me wanting the Gastric Bypas surgery came into my mind...but then I thought to myself why not get the Lap Band since i'm still young. So now i'm in the process of working on my 6 month diet that my insurance requires, getting my doctors appts. set up, and all that other little stuff that is required before surgery. I'm soo excited to do things that me weight has stopped me from doing before. Such as playing a game like Basketball, or tennins, or anything that requires a lot of movement. Or going on rides that require you to be locked in..or there is this ride at the fair here in Columbus that there are little seats that dangle from this huge thing and when it's turned on all the chairs go around in this circle(hard to imagine if you haven't seen it before), but i have never been able to fit into it..and i would love to some time. I just want to be able to enjoy life...so..here i go..on a journey...:car:

Good For you. This is a great place for support and to have all your questions answered. It's a wonderful feeling to finally take charge of food instead of having food take charge of us. I have 6 days to go before my surgery and then I will be able to answer questions from first hand experience. So many people on this fourm have answered all my crazy questions. Its like discovering a tree of your family you never knew existed. WELCOME and keep us informed.:whoo:

Nancy

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
